A few years back my wife and I both leased a Kia. I had the turbo Optima and she drove a loaded Sorrento. My initial hesitation was the brand name but couldn’t walk away from the ridiculous pricing. Both went full term without a single issue. My wife and I both loved the cars as they rode well, plenty of power, safe and more creature comforts than majority of cars out there.

I would hesitate to buy or lease a Kia, Hyundai or Genesis. Neither should you.

I'm guessing that should read would not hesitate since its sounds like you were satisfied with the vehicles?

You have any real world experience with them? I don't, I'm just reading reviews and going off other's experiences so I would like to hear the cons too. Always been a Ford customer, but the more junk I see daily roll out of Dearborn I honestly don't know what to buy from Ford. EcoBoosts are shitting VCT phasers left and right, 5.0's are guzzling oil, not to mention the chatter they are making. As I stated earlier about the cost of Expeditions, I make decent money, but that rig is overpriced in my opinion. 2020 Explorer quality has me spooked. It's everyday I see a post about some broken shit on one, low time in service, some of them not even making it a mile off the lot so I don't want one of those.
From what I've read and what I see, this is not the Kia that build the Sephia, they have came a long way in style and quality. Partnered with that unmatched warranty, at least on the domestic side, means I'm not working on it either. That's a win after doing that shit all day.

kia isn't known for reliability, and the resale value is beyond shit. The older ecoboost TT motors are shit but in 14/15 they solved most of the issues with timing chains and phasers. honestly for quality and reliability SUV a subaru is going to be the best, or a toyota. hell even a hyundai is going to be better.

Chains yes, phasers no. I did one a week, 3 weeks straight, on the 2nd gen EB, they are back to rattling like a 5.4 3v. SSM out right now to replace all 4 if it rattles on start up. TSB supposed t ok be out this quarter. I had an 18 Expedition that kept rattling after it warmed up. Beat the locating pin up.
As for Hyundai, I thought the two had the same parent company?
Can't argue on the Subaru. They have a great rep for quality and safety. The Telluride SX for the money beats out the Ascent similar package with more features, but yeah resale will be way better on the Subaru.
The market may come around concerning resale on the Telluride. They are the hottest crossover on the market currently, according to the sales manager at my dealer.

Not really, haven't drove it yet! Looks good, but looks aren't everything. My mind was made up on a 16 Range Rover sport supercharged and big brake package. Found a few used the stickered over 93k with 50k miles for around 50k. That got shot down pretty quick from the dishwasher lol!

I was thinking of a new Kia Optima. They are nice cars.
But with 2019 models it seems like they killed ALL the nice engines.
All that's left is a 160hp gasoline and 136hp diesel.... Quite useless...

The Rovers are nice but the short stint I worked at a dealer I wouldn’t own one outta warranty. Ford did good when they sold that brand. Even Bruno on here as been around them and I don’t think he is fond of them either.

Regarding cam phasers, it seems Ford did an update for the 2020 lineup that hopefully solved it. Sometime back in April a part was changed.

Some people are waiting 2+ months for the fix in their 17+ 3.5TT vehicles, including the Raptors.

While still rare, even vehicles up to 2018/19 could experience cam phaser failures.

My wifes expedition with 7k miles on it is starting to sound like marbles in a can on cold starts.

I like the Kia but like others have mentioned, it’s hard to buy it just because of the damn Kia name lol. If they put the tt 3.3 in this suv it would be perfect imo.

I do like the Stinger and the Optima as well.

Wouldn't catch me dead in any Kia/Hyundai. Anyone needing 3 rows, might seriously consider the 20' Honda Pilot
Why? o_O Have you owned one? Test driven one? My Genesis 3.3 TT AWD G70 (a Hyundai company) is the best car I've ever owned. A home run for Hyundai/Genesis.

I've seen a number of thos Tellurides in my area. I've never driven one but it is one good looking SUV. And a good value for what you're getting. Anyone interested in the Telluride should also look at the Hyundai Palisade.

Looks like a very nice vehicle. For the money it will depreciate a lot compared to Honda / Toyota. Just saying that Spending that type of money you don't really know what the resale value is or going to be...with a comparable Honda / Toyota you know they are built like tanks, and hold their value very well. If you have a nice down payment then your not at as much risk to be burried in this thing when you want to got out of it. lets face it, KIA's have a lot going for it but holding their value is not one of them. If you are not keen on Honda or Toyota, look at a domestic brand as well, at least you know what to expect when it comes time to trade in a couple / few years down the road. A lot of people say they are keeping their cars forever and trade-in / resale value is not a factor but fact is most people ditch their cars within 5 years. Good luck with your decision.

My vehicle, with a tune, is fun to drive and while I enjoy it, it's had a number of recalls that have all been fixed and with the exception of the engine recall, most have been petty b.s. My dealership honored my warranty a number of times including a brand new engine. The clogged oil journals became a problem with enough people and it caused a recall. Good for Hyundai. On the other hand, my last Ford was a third gen SHO and it had a KNOWN design flaw with the camshaft sprockets traveling causing the engine to go kaput. In 2001 Ford wouldn't help me. I was basically given the finger. The company didn't care that many people lost an engine due to a poor design rather than their (car owner) own negligence. Only now, twenty years removed, am I ready to give Ford another shot. All of us have differing experiences. I never once thought Ford had crappy cars (minus most of the 80's of course) but the way it handled the situation was poor. Hopefully things have changed.

Hasn't changed, big middle finger from FoMoCo for out of warranty repairs.

Honda on the other hand, almost 100% of the time will cover a majority of the cost of big repairs outside of warranty if the time frame is fair. All you have to do is ask and get situation elevated to district.

This is personal experience coming from a former ford advisor and long time honda advisor.

Hate to bash ford on a ford forum but it's the reality I experienced in the industry.

I would worry about repairs on one too out of warranty, which was my only hesitation on that choice. Will not have to worry though as that got shot down pretty hard.

Yes sir, been replacing them in 17's and 18's since summer. The new part number was on backorder, then the valve cover gaskets went on backorder because of the volume of repairs around the country drained the warehouses. Had an F150 customer wait 2 weeks for phasers in September.

I don't really need to lol, American or JAP all day. Honestly, I picked the 3.7 cyclone engine>all for DD reliability.

COBRABoB, your GENESIS is a better car than a TERMINATOR!?! Wow, that's all
