This is the hood of my wife’s Suburban. Not sure how it happened. Doesn’t look like normal Florida sun wear and tear. And we don’t use drive through car washes. But here we are. Can this be salvaged? What does it need? Paint correction? Clay bar? Complete repaint? Also, how much should I expect to pay for work like this on a vehicle this size?

Thanks in advance.

Highly doubtful you need to repaint. It could be saved through sanding, rotary work, compound and then polish.

At that point, you might be on par with just a repaint, based off cost.

Some of those look really deep. Are you able to catch your fingernail on the majority of them? Can you see primer through them? It's tough for me to really see in those pics.

Where in FL are you?

Did this just magically appear or has it been this way/getting worse for a while?

That almost looks like the clear coat is cracking and deteriorating or something

You have nothing to lose trying to fix it, at a bare minimum you can improve it to the point it isn't as much of an eye sore.

The only other way I'd expect to see damage like that is long time rubbing from a cheap car cover or tarp or something.

I’ll check for scratch depth in the morning. Haven’t noticed it until my wife called me out this morning to look at it. No car cover or tarp ever. Parked outside.

The only think I can think is she got it detailed at the mall about a month ago. I’m wondering if they jacked it up with a dirty sponge or something and covered it up with a wax so they could kick it down the road.

Located in Tampa. Anyone have any connections they could recommend?

They really would have had to jack it up big time to do that...but ya never know.

You ever get down south at all? Be happy to look at it for ya...

And if you want to try it yourself: Wash the area first, clay it gently, and use a light polish (first) you can use it by hand if you don't have a machine and see what the results are.

I’ve got family in Sarasota. So Naples is a stretch. I’d definitely be willing to set something up.
