Anyone replace the plastic rad/intercooler tanks with the Shelby Aluminum tanks? How high is the PITA factor? Do you need to drain the rad or can you just siphon the coolant out? Need new hoses/ modify hoses? How did you purge the air out?

I got a set from Van at Revanracing, they fit perfect with no modifications needed.

I bought a set of Moroso for my 13 GT500 and no issues with installation or drainage of coolant from on set of tanks to another.

Good info!, did you just siphon the old tanks or did you have to drain the entire rad/intercooler? Just Checked Van's online store. Looks like I'll be placing an order
You should NOT need to drain the system. I siphoned my OEM tanks, removed them, installed the new ones, and returned the siphoned coolant to them. I purged air by manually "burping" the system, but YMMV.

I have a set of Shelby aluminum tanks. I used a baster to remove the coolant as far as possible and then carefully removed the lines and swapped units. Easy job.

I snoozed, I lost. I looking at either the Moroso set or the Shelby set from Van-piano black. Van's are alot more money but I like the stock filler neck on the intercooler tank so I can re-use the billet caps and the gloss black option.
If you track your car at all you should definitely get the Moroso tanks. I love having the ability to stuff my IC tank with ice and easily drain it before the next run....very nice feature to have.

I got Vans tanks forever ago it seems.
Used wife's turkey baster to remove coolant.
She was mad as a Jap, but it worked well.

I have a like new set of Revan tanks powdered in Smoke Chrome (look like a cool stainless).
PM me if interested, I’ll post a pic. Been keeping them for a future project but will sell to someone here.
