I feel like this is going to be like the Boss block for the modular guys. The weight addition wasn't really worth it with the Teksid blocks being ridiculously strong. The Gen3 blocks are really strong. I'm not sure what the billet blocks are going for either, but that's another consideration.

Possible future bigger displacements for the truck segment.

The BOSS modular block really turned out to be a dud for HP over 800. This block looks like it can take it and those billet block developers can't be happy. Depending on where Ford prices it of course.

Throw 1500hp at it and see what shakes loose. I like it though. 80lbs is a lot, but just deal with it. Put a little extra toe and size a smaller front sway bar, run a tubular crossmember.

For a street car yes.. But for a drag car that is trying to get a certain weight distribution front to rear it's not that easy.

I really hope this isn’t like their old Boss 5.0 blocks, which promised a lot and didn’t really deliver on anything except the added weight.

While this thing is badass and all some of us lowly 4.6 guys would absolutely love a new cylinder block option other then the 5.0 iron boss block that has head gasket issues under high boost.

Eh, its 80lbs. I get your point, but 80lbs isn’t a big deal.

Cars are running 1.15 60ft times on 55/45% distributions. Lots of drag cars run 1.3’s with over 55% on the nose. Old body mopars with 57-60% of the weight on the nose have run 1.25 and quicker 60ft times with big blocks up front.

And crank walking without hella expensive machining mods.

Crank walk? I've never heard about that regarding this block. Now the old 5.0 blocks a little but not the modular based 5.0 block.

When it first dropped the big HP guys were talking about it on other sites.

This is the first I've ever heard of cap walk with that block. I know many were having issues with head gasket sealing issues at high boost.

No I am not saying it's BS but I dont see how it would be an issue as it uses the same cap arrangement as the standard 4.6 and that's rock solid.

Nonetheless I'd still really like to see a new ready to go 4.6. There was a company that was seriously looking to make them but I believe the abandoned the idea. The other part that sucks is sleeving a teksid or a wap block isn't cheap and you need to find a machine shop that really know wtf they are doing which is extremely hard for some of us. This is however our only option to get a newish block.

The caps on the BOSS are not the same as the standard 4.6 block.

On one hand, i like the fact you can punch it out to 5.6L.

On the other hand, theres plenty of people already running 1000hp on gen 2 coyotes, so i see no reason to add 100lbs of weight over the front axle of my drag car. John Mihovetz proved years ago that you can run un-godly amounts of power on prepped AL blocks.

Also, if its really over $5,000. I can pop a stock block and replace it with another stocker and still come out ahead.

Not really exciting at $5-6k, now $3k I can see working for many people.
For me personally I’ll do a sleeved 5.2 or Bear Motorsports block from a reputable shop.
Nice option to have though for some guys and a 5.6 displacement for that great flowing top end.
