Loaded my 96 Mystic into my trailer this morning and drove an hour to a huge car show. There was a sea of cars, trucks and bikes... hundreds of amazing cars everywhere you look. There were no categories for judging, just 25 trophies for the “Top 25” and then a few personal pics by dignitaries. I was absolutely stunned that my 100% stock 400 mile car from the 90s won a “Top 25” award! This was the first time I’ve shown the car since buying it last summer.

It's well deserved Goose, you have an immaculate collection sir.

Super cool!

Your Mystic is probably my favorite of your collection. I actually like the color more than Mystichrome and LOVE that it's a hardtop.

Sweet car!

Dude, you impress me.

Thanks guys. It was a long day, but fun to get the car out in public for the first time.

Congrats! Cool trophy!

Why wouldn’t it win? It’s awesome!
Congratulations.

Pick your poison.

Awesome! Car looks amazing, just like all your others!

Thanks guys... I appreciate the kind words. I didn’t think I had a chance because there were a crap ton of high-end cars that owners spend lots of money customizing them to the “9s!” I just had a car that looked as it did when it left the assembly line. I guess the judges appreciated that... I was just shocked when I was called.

Like other have expressed, I'm in no way surprised that your Mystic was a Top-25 award winner. It's a rare car and it's in pristine condition. Congrats. Too bad you couldn't like up your entire collection, side by side, and watch the judges swoon. LOL.

Old thread I know lol. What you need to do is reach out to Doug Demuro to have him do a review on your car. Aside from the insane low mileage but it's the mystic!! People today (that weren't kids in 96 lol) are shocked to learn when I tell them the mystic on my car is original and it came from the factory that way lol.

Yes, it’s funny that all these years later, people still are surprised to see the color-changing paint... same thing with my Mystichrome 04.

What’s the story on your Mystic? Miles/mods?

Long story short, graduated in '97 so the Mystic has always held a special place in my heart lol. However, I've always been a camaro guy. LT1's were near and dear to me for their sound, which is why the 4.6L 32V always keep a bug in my ear. Those two motors will always have the best sound ever to me. With that said, about a year ago, I had been telling the wife I have GOT to get me a car that I can drive to work and work on it here and there. This was a few days before our brand new SUV gets totaled by a dead tree falling on it...only 11 days after having it. So while I'm looking around, this 96 mystic with only 62K miles on it pops up...and only 1 mile from me for only $7K!! Long story short, I tell the wife "the gods have spoken"...going to get it tomorrow lol! The body and paint is almost flawless. The clear coat on the plastic trim below the doors have oxidized a bit and one small spot on the spoiler but that's it. Body straight as an arrow. Only thing it's drastically need was new wires, tune up, odd's and end's kind of stuff. Only thing really major was driver seat leather being torn but most definitely work the 7K to me.

Far as mod goes, motor is basically stock. Only real mods are wheel change, cats removed and full 3" exhaust with X pipe ran from the stock manifolds out the back. Have tons of questions since I don't know much about these motors. I want to beef it up soon. I wan to keep this motor for it's nostalgic and harmonious sounds lol. Coyote swap is too easy. Yes I know you don't get as much bang for buck horsepower/money wise on this motor but I freakin love its sound and not to mention, shes been faithful to me on a couple long road trips. Soon I'm gona have to post a thread asking questions about what's the best course of action. With my ADD I get lost on the best route to take with the 4.6L 32V vs LT/LS motors lol. So once I get over my fear of catching flak for not knowing...I'll post it lol. Til then, always an enjoyment seeing images of your awesome mystic!

Congrats on landing a Mystic! Thanks for sharing your story. The 4.6s sound fantastic in my opinion. I dig the burble. Good luck with your build!

Congratulations, Goose. Well deserved! That definitely looked like a huge turnout for the car show.
