I know many of you are generous people and have charities you like to support. I didn't start this thread to virtue signal but to see what charities you all donate to and why.

At the end of the year I donate a portion of my bonus to my favorite charities and still have about $250 to give.
This year I gave to the following,
St. Judes Children hospital.
Gary Sinese Foundation.
The Innocence Project.
Last Chance Ranch (Local animal rescue)

We donate to the preeclampsia foundation, this is a disease many pregnant woman can get and my wife was one of them. It almost took her life and our sons life. We have been active in volunteering and donating during the yearly walk for hope. We also give to ACKC, because my dad has kidney cancer and we donate to this foundation when we can. This past year we participated in the angel tree at church and got something for a child was in need. Also they hd something the knights of Columbus was doing for the children in the cancer hospitals, it was a blanket drive. We gave a couple of nice warm blankets for them. It’s tough sometimes to donate monetarily so we try to volunteer when we can.

Never give charities cash/$, that's how the Clintons paid for their daughter's wedding. Donate time, give a hobo food or milk, or donate dog/cat food...everything else will go to an overpaid executive or to alcohol.

As has been pointed out, some charities are more about filling the pockets of those that run the organizations than actually helping anyone....Red Cross, ASPCA, just to name a couple.

Always research your charity before giving.

With that said, I openly support St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Shriner Hospitals, and the Salvation Army. Don't forget your local food banks.

The Red Cross for being so huge, doesn't do to bad on admin expenses. They have paid maybe to much for the head executive. A far cry from not helping anyone.

I pay 40-50% of my income in taxes. The government takes that shit and gives it to "charities" I don't agree with.
That’s tough, you hear about so many people and foundations struggling to help people. We can only do so much to help out just like others. If we weren’t nickle and dimed to death by our wonderful government we could give more to helping charities.

I believe this is by design to create a less individually caring more government dependent society.
