Hey guys, thinking about welds. I would go with 15s in the back. I wanna buy once cry once. At what power level will I need beadlocks? I will be running Mickey radials if it makes a difference. Mostly street, will not see a lot time on the strip.

Thanks

For some reason I thought radials didn't really need bead locks. Especially with tire pressures for running around on the street.

Use a grease pen and draw a line on the sidewall and rim and see if it moves...make some hits and check the line...then if ya need em, get em
I don't think he wants to buy a set of non-beadlocks if he needs bead locks lol.

Depends on the weight of the car. Imo 1200-1400 hp on average for a Mustang weighing 4000-4400 lbs with driver will benefit from a set of singles. Lotta variable like rim size. Ive seen cars benefit from them at 800 whp but that was a really light fox body at like 2800 lbs.

No need for double beads at our power levels. Just adds more price and weight.

What do people think of single beadlock conversions to non beadlock wheels? Anyone have experience with this?

I’d get the bead locks, I’ve seen tires move on a few street cars. I wouldn’t dare put screws in a new set of welds. My wheels came with screw holes so that’s what I run.
@lexustech48 look into champion bead lock conversions. Super quality stuff.

For street rips it seems like non beadlock will probably be fine for me even at my power level.

But: the beadlocks look bad AF.
Considerations: looks, resale, cost.

Yay or nay, beadlock or non beadlock?

I needed beadlocks on my 12 car 4000lb with driver at 800rwhp. Without them the tires would move and that is with an auto.

Unless your stretching a 275 on an 11-12” wide rim or you’re a serious street/strip car I think beadlocks are a waste of money and they look gaudy. I wouldn’t do it unless I really needed it.
