Help decide on AR15 Caliber

Planning on building 2 rifles. What calibers should I do?

I'm not particular and am just looking for something fun. Price/round isn't a deterrent by any means.

458 just for a **** you rifle.

450 Bushmaster. It's like having a 45-70 in an AR platform

I had a 458 SBR, really liked it. Thought about doing it again! I might just leave it as a pistol though, I hate waiting on tax stamps. Waiting on a suppressor currently.

Have you considered .308?

I'm considering between a 300 and a 308 for my next AR.

Not a hunter, but I know a few that love the 300 for hunting hogs/recoil over a 308

Also intrigued by the pistol AR's in a 300 caliber.

I'd build a 300 blk suppressed for sure, and maybe a 243 for fun...but for some reason I think a 300win mag AR would be a trip lol

Just bought a Sig Canebrake in 300BO.


Well I have two lowers ready...one will be a 450 Bushmaster pistol...other is still in the air.

If we're talking large frame ARs, Noreen and Alexander Arms both make 338 Lapua in the AR platform

Shot the son-in-law's 5.56 this weekend and fell in love with it. Had unpainted iron sights which really sucked. I might buy him a dot reticle or something for his birthday.

For me- I have bought calibers in which ammo is widely available...such as .308 and .223 and of course 12 gauge. Anti-2nd A lunatics will get around trying to ban ammo someday..

Case in point...look at what is going on in Richmond today....

I carried a Glock 29 10mm as duty/business gun for 25 years..I love the power.

I went with the cz scorpion to satisfy that itch...damn it's fun to shoot

And here I sit with my humble (two) 9mm pistols. LOL. That ARs are really nice. My son has two, I believe. Don't know what caliber.
