I know some here are negative about Tesla. Their stocks have skyrocketed recently. Interested to hear opinions about them. We are looking at doing a Tesla roof on a project. Musk is a visionary guy for sure that has the ability to shake up multiple industries.

Elon Musk is a genius, Trump says | Space

"You have to give [@ElonMusk] credit," President Trump tells @JoeSquawk. "He's one of our great geniuses, and we have to protect our genius.""He's going to be building a very big plant in the United States. He has to, because we help him, so he has to help us." pic.twitter.com/WIlBJS0saEJanuary 22, 2020

President Donald Trump, it seems, is a fan of Elon Musk.

Trump hailed the SpaceX and Tesla CEO in an interview with CNBC's Joe Kernen at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, calling the billionaire tech pioneer a "genius" who ranks alongside the likes of Thomas Edison.

Generally most of the intelligent folks in history have been quirky/strange. Intelligence is often accompanied by manic, depression, bi-polar, etc. Strange correlation.

I wouldn't argue against his genius. The man has done more with his life than most of us combined on here. He's started up and sold a lot of very successful active companies today. He does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. I'd say if he's not a genius, he's close.

That's right, don't have to like who he is as a person but can't deny his achievements

I used to have the exact same thoughts, but can no longer deny he has managed to captivate the world. Telsa definitely carries a certain Apple vibe.

Many, including me still laugh at the possibility that Tesla might one day be successful, but you know the traditional OEM's would kill to have their mojo.

Would you rather have their value or gm’s profits? Perceived worth vs actual worth?

Tesla value will be only if they find a way to hold energy/electricity in a battery for a years plus time. Then your unused solar would not have to be a sold back to the electric company. You could just keep and hold until needed...

So much fraud and shady business practices associated with Tesla and their stock, i can't even begin to comprehend how the business is still around.

One of these days the stock is just going to have a massive sell-off, and i'm going to say "I told you so".

When you put solar on your roof, you use that electricity or sell it to your power company. There currently no way to hold and save it long term.

It depends on the state, but yes, that is mostly correct--some states you basically give it to the power company for free other give you full retail. There is no need to 'save' the power for a year or more.

There are battery systems available (such as the tesla powerwall) that will allow you to store the power and use it during times when the sun is not available. Still, there is absolutely no need to save the power for long periods of time.
