Go bigger, if you can. 65" is today's standard "living room" size. Actually the exact size 50" is gone, you have 49', and 55".

My personal favorite (Im in the industry) is Sony. Many will have their opinions as well.

What is your budget? OLED will give the best picture, but TCL and Hisense also make fantastic TVs at very affordable prices. Whatever you do, this weekend is the time to buy.

LG OLED will give best picture quality if in a dark room and playing 4K content. That being said, if you're going to watch a lot of streaming or cable content (sports etc.) that probably won't be 4K so you may want to check out the Sony X950G or Samsung Q80/Q70 since they upscale 1080p and 720p content much better. They are standard LED/QLED sets so they won't match the black levels of the LG OLED but I think they're better for more of a mixed use case like yours.

Additional info would be helpful as well. Namely is your mancave dark or bright when viewing, how far will you be from the tv when viewing, etc?

Really all the mid to upper range TVs look great now when displaying 4k content, I think that how you're going to use the TV overall should determine what you buy.

How wide is the wall the TV is going on? If it's 9' or less, a 55" is best. A longer wall with no breaks can benefit from a 65". I went with a 55" LG OLED and the size is perfect for the wall we have.

I laugh sometimes when I think back when we owned 21-22"" and 25"-26" TVs back in the day. Today we see 55", 65", 75"+ TVs. Anyone remember the picture quality of Super Bowl 1? This Sunday's Super Bowl will be available in 1080P HDR or 4K HDR. I'll be able to stream the Super Bowl in 4K HDR. Fox is promising the best viewing quality ever.

Lol....Bob. I certainly do remember it because I watched it live back then. My parents were pretty well off back then and we had a color console Motorola tv to watch it on. A little trivia for back in 1967. NBC broadcast the AFL games and CBS broadcast the NFL games and both networks were allowed to televise the SB game. Then the next year in 1968 was angry as hell with NBC and the Heidi game.

This photo was much clearer of SB 1 than the TV broadcasts...lol.

In checking prices on the LG ( OLED65C9PUA ), I noticed prices have gone up this week.
LG OLED is the top of the heap as far as picture quality.
..............( they make the panel for the Sony unit )

Just my opinion but... get the biggest screen you can squeeze in the room and don't worry about specs too much.

Don't get too wrapped up in the absolute best picture you can afford. There really isn't even an abundance of 4K content available yet. I think that is atleast another 4-5 years off. Most of my content comes from unofficial sources anyway.

I bought a 75" LG 4K TV back in October for $1000. You can get the same TV now around $700.

It an office sized room. One window. Cable will be hooked up and streaming from my desktop. Only thing streaming will be bass tourneys, rest of the sports will be cable or similar

Here's a chart of suggested screen size vs. viewing distance.

I would check out the reviews of these sets:

LG C9 OLED Review (OLED55C9, OLED65C9, OLED77C9)
Samsung Q80/Q80R QLED Review (QN55Q80R, QN65Q80R, QN75Q80R, QN82Q80R)
Samsung Q70/Q70R QLED Review (QN49Q70R, QN55Q70R, QN65Q70R, QN75Q70R, QN82Q70R, QN85Q70R)
Sony X950G Review (XBR55X950G, XBR65X950G, XBR75X950G, XBR85X950G)

Nice tool that allows you to compare the reviews of TV's side by side:
