Nothing too major. Had pretty bad stomach pains for about 12 hours, nothing like I had felt before, but I wouldn't call the pain severe. Went to the ER - appendicitis. Appendix ruptured while I was waiting to get into surgery. They removed the appendix and I went home the next morning. This was just about a year ago.

Probably the time I got Noro virus in Thailand along with half our company. I remember crawling through the dirt and puking and lights were just tracing all around me in a blur. Drink some water and you feel it hit every chamber of your body before it shoots out your ass seconds later the same as when it went in. Had a few illnesses that put me in that state and made me feel like I was on the verge of deat . Got sick like that once after getting a tetanus shot surprisingly. I had tetanus shots before and they would make me sick somewhat but the last time I felt like I was dying.

Had meningitis as a kid, felt like someone had a pickaxe trying to open up my skull.

I wasn't lecturing ya homie...I was agreeing with you

Fair enough, bud.

I don't have many boundaries and limits but one of them is poking fun at someone ill. Jesus Christ, everyday I think I am dying of something beyond mere aging.

Edit: I don't do it often but accept my apology if I was harsh.

When I was in college I got mono and a gum infection at the same time, I kept brushing it off at first and ended up getting rushed to the ER.....my gums turned white and it hurt to even drink water, I lost 31 pounds in 2 weeks and was laid up for a little over two months sleeping about 18-20 hours a day. It was a rough year after that.

I’ve been pretty lucky, especially compared to some of these stories....damn.

A few years ago I had a buffalo chicken sub that had me on my knees puking blood and almost passing out in a hotel shower. Probably not all that severe but it was unnerving being 2 hours from home and wondering if you’re going to die alone in a hotel.

Christmas morning of ‘17 I wasn’t feeling great while the kids opened presents (not cool, I was a zombie and couldn’t get off the couch). Couple hours later I was in bed feeling like hell. NP wife had been teasing me all morning about the man-flu until she took my temp which was right at 105. That was a long couple days.

Nothing too major.

Had kidney stones once, that shit was no joke. The pain literally had me on the bathroom floor calling for 911. My girl at the time was out of town so I had to fend for myself. I called 911, crawled to my front door and waited for their arrival.

Had food poisoning a couple times too.

About 10 years ago, I had eaten something that did not agree with me. It didn’t hit me until I was on plane, headed from Utah to Miami. I spent most of the flight in the bathroom. When I got home, I spent three days in bed. My business partner finally convinced me to go to the hospital. I was having extreme stomach pain, to the point I was curled up in a ball, it was the worst pain I have been felt, and I have had some pretty bad injuries in my life.

it turns out I had contracted salmonella, which then led to ischemic colitis, which is when blood vessels in your colon get so inflamed they block off blood flow, it can lead to severe damage to the colon. At the hospital they told me, most people with this condition come into the hospital right away, as the pain is utterly unbearable. It was not fun, and I got lucky I went to the hospital when I did.

that’s word for word how it happened to me. I had no idea what was going on, EMT’s said oh yeah very common, we transport about a dozen people per night for kidney stones.

Steer clear of TICKS! They are the Devil in disquise!

U dont know sick till u get Lyme Disease...... was out of work for (11) months. Had PICC line in my arm for (7) months. Im usually 220 lbs. I was down to 138 lbs. Wasting away like an AIDS patient!

Not only did I have Lyme but I also had another co-infection called Babesia which is simply Malaria. Its treated with the exact same medication u treat Malaria with. It attacks ur red blood cells. Words cannot describe how awful it was.....

****ing hell! I’ve spent a lot of time crawling around the woods thanks to the military. Getting lime disease is one of my biggest fears. Through a lot of preparation and prevention I’ve managed to avoid ever having a tick latch onto me. That I know of at least.

Best of luck to you man. Hope you’ve made a full recovery.

I had pneumonia as a kid and that sucked. Had swine flu in 2009 and I didn’t leave my bed for two days. Was hallucinating because of the fever. But after reading all these replies I have no idea what it’s like to be really sick lol!

I’ve heard kidney stones are the worst pain some people have been in. How do I avoid them?

Avoid high intake of sodas, high salt diet. Stay hydrated. But some may have conditions that make them more likely to get them even while being food conscious
