I am going to try and finally get on the E85 train, but doing some research and not sure if I am screwed or not.

I have a Glenn’s sumped tank with triple walbro GSL392 pumps. These appear to be not E85 compatible. I have had this setup since 2007-2008 when I first went return.

I have been searching the last couple days and it doesn’t appear like they are many “E85” compatible options. The AEM 380 says it can be used in alcohol but the pump life is reduced(super quantitative answer lol).

I know most people now are in tank setups, but does anyone have experience with externals and E85? I would prefer to stay away from big ass loud weldons and magnafuel pumps, was the reason I have what I have. The walbros are quiet.

Thanks in advance.

Why not run E85 compatible in tank pumps? Walbro makes them and I see plenty of guys running AEM. Maybe I’m missing the question?

I run two walbro 465s in a fore hat in my stock tank. Good for 1200hp or so.

Totally missed.

I have a sumped tank, for me to swap to in tank I need a new cobra tank, fore hat and pumps. I will be $1400-1700 deep to do that.

I was building this fuel system before guys like Fore were making big volume fuel hats for return systems. So you had to put together a return system different than now.

It’s way more cost effective if I can just swap pumps and the manifolds to pair them up.

I ran an eliminator pump (yes loud could hear it inside the car) switched to a magnafuel pump (can’t hear it inside the car can hardly hear it standing at rear of the car)

I did look into that pump Kevin it’s the one I was hoping to get some positive feedback on in this thread. Most of my researching online did not have good success with this pump.

I think I will make the switch back to an intank setup so I can run E85 compatible walbros. I am quite surprised walbro didn’t build an E85 compatible GSL392 pumps like I currently run.

Magnafuels can be noisy, but they're tough to beat for performance and flow.

I went with a Fuelab Prodigy. They've come out with some crazy high flowing ones. They're a lot quieter than a lot of the other pumps, and are set up for a speed controller, which is a really nice feature. They even have a regulator that when wired to it functions as its own closed loop speed controller.

Do you have IRS and saddle tanks? If so, you HAVE to go in tank. Without the in tank pump action, there's no syphoning of the passive side over to the active side (where the pump module and assembly is).
