Here you go. Here is a little writeup that I did about the FBI test if you are so inclined. (Hilariously Wilson threatened to sue the FBI because they claimed the test was unpassable)

.....All guns had to shoot a 10-shot group at 25 yards of less than 1.5’ from a ransom rest. For reference, the target that comes with Wilson Combats and Nighthawk is a 5 shot group. Then the gun would go through a 20,000 round reliability test, after which it would have to undergo the accuracy test again. For reference, the original military 1911 test was only 6,000 rounds. Only 10% degradation of accuracy was permitted. The RFP stipulated that all testing be conducted with Remington Golden Sabre, which is not considered very accurate ammunition. Of the group that submitted RFPs, only Springfield and Pro Gun passed both the accuracy and reliability test. Springfield got the contract, as Pro Gun was not deemed capable of fulfilling.

Civilians are able to purchase any guns left over from the FBI run. Historically there is a long wait, when I ordered this one it was 36 months. I also have a railed version (this is known as the “Operator”) that only took 12 months, so it can vary. The very first runs were stamped “FBI” on the side, but Springfield received a cease and desist order and now stamps them as “Professional.” If you come across one stamped “FBI” it is worth a ton as there were only 258 made. There are a handful stamped “DEA” that are worth even more.

How does it handle and shoot? It is bank vault tight and accurate AF, although the trigger is not as good as other semi customs. It is set up for fighting, with ~5lb trigger break vs. the more typical <4lbs for WC, HNG, GCI. It has a ambi safety and 20lpi front strap, which will tear your hands up if you shoot extended range sessions. Nonetheless, if I were to carry a full size 1911 it would be this one, no question.

I remember when I thought paying almost $700 for my first 1911 (Springfield GI 45) was a lot of money. Now, after seeing these fine examples of 1911’s that others have posted, it makes my Kimber, Colts, Sig’s and Smith & Wesson’s look like Rock Island material...

well let’s just post more since I found some old pics....!
Have not shared The brown/black gun before , is a nighthawk dad has, haven’t seen another like it, I think was one of the founders personals. It shoots fireballs out the top of the barrel, fires totally flat, and is loud as hell!

I am shopping for a .45 1911 (under $2,500) that:

1. I can shoot it a lot (I don't want something that comes in a case)
2. It will become my CCW

Really, I would step up the extra bucks to get the Alchemy Classic Carry (so sexy), but I do not want to wait 5-6 months.

SVTP recommendations?

I'm SO envious! Your dad's Nighthawk is awesome! Big bucks awesome. LOL. But you're paying a premium for a premium 1911. I'll probably never own one, but I can admire those who do. ;)

Gently used les baer will be 1800, WC CQB will be 2300. Guncrafter can be found 2300 to 2700.

Cruise the classified section of 1911 Addicts you will find stupid deals of very well cared for guns. I am a member and most of the guys have a huge inventory of safe queens that they trade amongst themselves.

You will not have any trouble finding something very nice for your budget.

Can a new member browse the classifieds immediately? Do you have some type of restriction on certain areas of the forum until you post X amount of times?

Thanks Klaus!

I have never bought on line before, do they need to send it to a dealer near me, or how does that work?

That I do not know. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

Easy peasy. Find an FFL and have it shipped there. There are search engines that provide all the FFLs in your zip code. You will be surprised how many there are. You can use paypal although if you have a dispute you are Fd. A lot of guys will only take postal money orders.

Thanks Bob! The nighthawk is a blast, decided we’re going to take it out on the next range trip,
it usually gets attention at the range because it’s practically as loud as a .44 magnum with the porting lol

In my area, it usually costs around 20 to 30 dollars to do a transfer when buying a gun online. It is super easy. I

Well, I got a copy of the build sheet for my Colt from Bob Reeves at Nighthawk this week. 14 weeks of feeling like a kid waiting for Christmas has begun to creep up on me. Can’t wait!!

Beautiful combo. I love the black T finish on the older. The guy that did the finish work died so you cannot get it any more.
