It was amazing on TV. I can only imagine how it was to see it from the seats.The 800ft Air Force 1 flover was probably awesome.
The sport REALLY needed that...... Nascar has been on life support the last few years.
Going to a race is entirely different than watching on TV. 180mph heading into a corner is pretty wild, the rear end drifts slightly each time too. Kinda hairy to watch in person. Super loud too. Not as loud as NHRA, but it's a constant LOUD noise. Especially if it's a while between cautions and the cars get separated a bit.
It's pretty much the largest tailgate party you will ever attend. BYOB in a 20" cooler. That's a lot of beer they allow you to bring in. You can always run out to the car and grab more too.
I don't even really watch the race when I go. I'm usually in a motorhome with the AC on. There's a very large rear window where we can watch the race (and most certainly still hear it) if we want to. I camp up on the "the hill" at NMHS. Our spot is literally less than 15 feet from the safety fence along the track.
