Special moment for me as my 16-yo son corners my car hard enough to get air under the tire. His mom and I autocrossed the shit out of this car for years before he was born and look at him go.

Thing is, he asked me recently if there was a safe place to practice car control, and I said yes, yes there is. So Saturday I took him to an autocross where he drove my SS Sedan in competition and I drove my ‘92 Mustang, then we swapped cars for time-only runs. If I had entered the SS in competition I would have placed 1st in CAM-C ahead of two S550 Mustang GT’s. :D Meanwhile he hopped into the Mustang and proclaimed the SS is NOT an autocross car. He could really feel the 900-lb difference in weight. Gotta say, it was weird sitting at the starting line like that, getting ready to do something I used to do every weekend in this same car, but haven't done in probably 15 years. Great fun.

Very cool, that's pretty much all I've done was autocross. I'd love to teach my oldest but he isn't ready for it quite yet.

Any videos? That’s awesome.

Here's one video, warts and all. He's still learning how to drive a stick. I told him, for this last run, leave finesse for the street. Just rev it up and dump the clutch. Which he did, but he somehow managed to miss his shift into 2nd LOL. ANd since he'd already crossed the timing beam, that cost him a lot of time, otherwise it would have been a respectable time. Up til now he had kind of been babying it, and I said screw that, send it, that's why we're here. And he sent it. He felt that slide coming, but he doesn't have enough time behind the wheel to know just how fast it was going to come around.
