How attached to a stick shift manual trans?
Outside of banging your own gears and having more power (and a bunch more torque), the 2020 will do everything better.
Spring will be better to sell your car anyway, so I’d put it up at a high OBO now then wait til spring to drive your car and the new one back to back.
Probably will show the current cars age, but also may make you appreciate all the power you have now.

While I do love to row my own gears I’ll take the trade off of the much faster shifting trans. At the track I just want what’s faster at this point. At these power levels the stick shift just hamstrings us, and while it does add to the fun factor due to it requiring more skill, I’m over it.

I just want something new to play around with. I think most of the fun in these cars, for me, comes from the build/mod process. Once I’m done with that I unfortunately get a little bored, and then it’s on to the next one.

My car ...like many on this forum has FBO's. I was a bit of a stupid head who probably swapped out 2k in mods just to upgrade to more mods ...learning curve! All added for what stayed on the car + what I took off for resale I'd guess I'm in for 10K. Nothing near how invested you are but here's how I rationalized.

I don't look at resale loss due to mods. A 5-6 day Bahama vacation could cost 4K. Folks can spend $1000 on a 3 day ski weekend. Tons of fun in either instance it's all over but the memories. For money thrown into my '13 I've been Wide Smiling every single day I'm in the seat for the past 6+ years. To relive last week's memories all I need to do is open my garage door. If I sold the car for same price as stock.....or take a bit bigger hit on resale I'm thanking my car for all those summers of pure fun, things I learned along the way and all those days of wide smiles :)->) !

I hope you find a buyer who wants to pay to play. There just might be a buyer out of the gate who dreams of a purpose built motor. But if it sells for less than expected .....remember all the thrills and how many times you said " Damn today was great and I'm luvin those HP Upgrades !"

That's a good way to look at it, Jam. If I can't get what I want out of it then I'm just going to keep it. I've got too much money and time invested in it to just give it away for the price of a stocker, and I think what I'm asking is very reasonable for what the car is. I'm pretty sure I can find the right buyer, it just may take some time.

Well...the longer you hang on to it with the built motor...the more miles of smiles. It sucks feeling forced to sell. Must agree....you can't get hurt placing an internet ad waiting for the right buyer. Last car I sold was a 542BBC big cam Pro Street Camaro with non-highway -friendly skinnys, Tru-Posi Detroit Locker that made it almost hop around street corners. After a full summer a guy drove 5 hrs...LOVED the car...almost drooled all over it and trailored it home. My neighbor overheard him telling his buddy " I stole this car ". Did I take a hit? Yup. We all do. But I was happy to get my listed price and realized there really is ....an ass for every seat.

As someone who buys and sells these types of cars frequently I can say the guys that do the built motors with upgraded superchargers give the best deals. It’s fine in the beginning with lower hp, but as they go down the mod list in search of more power, the heat soak and disappointment lead to wandering eyes. If you had some twins under the hood you wouldn’t be posting.

No issues with heat soak here. I wouldn’t take a twin turbo S197 over the 2020 GT500. If I was inclined to do that it would be much cheaper than buying a new vehicle.

My 2 cents, pull the motor, buy a stocker on Ebay then sell it for stock money. Then you could either sell it or better yet drop it in another project and have one bad ass ride. Me personally, want to put my spare motor in a fox or 1st gen. 1st gen would be real expensive though. A s197 v6 donor racecar might work too.

Get your car appraised, maybe have it listed by a broker?

Now is getting to be prime selling time, early spring, here in the cold parts.
Stick to your number and that car will sell as it’s a great example and done right.

As someone who is in the same boat and comes from Turbo cars, I feel what you said hard.
Everyone keeps telling me to just turbo mine, but I cant justify it. I rather sell it and do a turbo 13-14 GT car for what I would get out of mine stock

Still on the fence man. Thinking it will be damn near impossible to get a 2020 at this point, especially without some ridiculous ADM, which I refuse to pay on principle. May just enjoy it for one more summer and unload around this time next year.
