I'm in the market for some new shit kickers and shop shoes. I just ran across Cat's line of stuff and it looks decent. I'm sure there's better choices for those that have to earn a living with their boots, but these look pretty good for casual use. Plus I've been spending a decent amount of time driving around a Cat C7 recently. Any opinions on comfort/quality?

I quit spending big money on work boots years ago. Started buying the Brahma brand from Wal-Mart back around 2003 and found they last just as long and just as comfortable as the expensive stuff for only about $40.

Working in paper mills years ago, the caustic in the water would eat up any pair of boots in about 6 months. Since I don't support paper mills anymore, the pair I wear daily have lasted 5 years so far.

You might need some Dr. Scholl's inserts with any brand. They make them so much more comfortable.

I run inserts in most of my shoes. Makes a huge difference.

I wear the Red Wing BOA boots. They're great.

Another red wing vote here. I work in a tire shop and they are the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Irish setter line is a little bit more affordable plus it has the king for option if you need safety toes but want more room.

I've tried two different pairs of RW and I've given them both away.

I put 10 years on a pair of Rocky Ironclads and they were by far the most comfortable and durable. Just got another pair for Christmas to replace the old ones. I prefer the 6" height over the 8".

We have to were steel toes at work and over the years I've worn the all. The last 4yrs been wearing Caterpillar sneakers with a composite toe and i like them a lot. They are light and comfortable. For me they last a good long time even though i get a new pair every year. One thing I always use is the Mega Comfort insoles in all my work shoes they crush Dr. Scholls brand.

I've got a pair of Cats that I wear 5 days a week. I've had them since 2015 and they've worn great. Will likely wear them for another year or so, until the toes are too worn to look presentable (I'm an engineer and routinely go into plants/labs/machine shops/etc.).

Had a pair of Cats, were pretty comfortable and wore well but the lack of arch support killed me even with inserts. May have just been that particular line but I haven’t gone back.

I have a pair of Rocky composite Iron Skulls that I’m wearing now and like them.

I’ve had 4 sets of cats over the past 8 years. I like them, wore them out on the farm. Hold up pretty well. However the initial “break in” for around the ankles sucks. Once loosened up, all good.
