projector headlights

I have HIDs but in the OEM housings. Primarily because all the housing options I've seen out there are really rice/ghetto looking.

Until now... I came across this company today: SW Lights

They take the OEM housing and retrofit them with a projector setup. You can use their HID ballast/bulb kit or your own if you already have one (H1 bulbs). They offer both amber and clear lense corners and also paint the original chrome reflective surface black if you want.

I am tempted to try them out but at $425 for the setup I want (clear corners and black shroud and housing) it's not cheap. Wanted to get everyone else's opinion first.

Does anyone have experience with this company? Does anyone have or know of another brand of projector headlights that look good?

Here's one of their pics:

I was about to place an order with Yukes when I found out my wife got me a Whipple last year about this time. Still want a set from him. $425 does sound cheap for a set. Too good to be true?

If you're only looking to eliminate HID scatter in OE housings simply replace the HID's with LED's. It will cost you under $100. If you like the look of the projectors, sorry can't help ya there.

^^ Like said in the other threads, beam pattern is a lote different and better with good projectors...same for the look, really depends on the PO at the end.

I put some elbow grease into a set - it is a lot of work. After I did my set - I realized why they were so expensive. The beam pattern is great though - low beam that very evenly distributes light with a sharp cutoff (no scatter) and a very useful high beam.

The hardest thing is finding a good set of headlights to work with. More specifically - it is challenging to find a new headlight that will allow left/right adjustment as well as the up and down adjustment.

I had a retrofit done on my DD M3, which already had projectors BTW. Paid my awesome BMW shade tree mechanic $500 + a $50 tip because he also aye took good care of me. Difference was definitely noticeable and well worth the money. I have no problem paying Yukes for a quality set of retrofitted lights.

I'm interested in these as well. But would love to see some reviews first. Or maybe if they wanted to bring the price down a bit for a group buy I'd go ahead and pull the trigger.

That's sublimemach's car on IG. Don't know what his name is on here but from what he keeps stating there good headlights. He's how I found out about the company but I have yet to purchase anything from them as well.

Regarding this vendor.... for anyone searching for personal experience with this company.....

In my recent experience, SW-Lights / swlights.com has poor customer service. Extremely slow response to emails. Missed promised shipping dates by weeks. I ordered ~$1100 of light mods in November and only received them after opening a claim at the end of February. Only responds to up-sell, or make empty apologies/promises due to the Paypal disputes. I even asked for just a straight refund before making a claim. I made the mistake of dropping the claim with the once he gave me a tracking number. I should have waited to make sure all of my order was in the shipment. In the end, SW-Lights / swlights.com also shorted me on $42 of LEDs and has not responded to my emails. I don't enjoy doing this but, like most people, I work for a living and hate having to chase people down to hold up their end of a deal. Hopefully the equipment works. They did give me $50 refund for the lateness. But I was shorted the balance of my order. Just an FYI maybe I'm an outlier but I still have radio silence......buyer beware.

While I only got a plain-jane retro he was 3 weeks behind schedule when I ordered about a year ago. Happy with the end product but I agree poor comms and not able to meet basic deadline. Dont advertise 30 days if its a 60 day process.

I attempted to install the gear and realized a $75 controller was missing. I didn’t realize the part was necessary until I found there was no way to hook up was this was the first time dealing with lighting. I sent a very angry email and looked to charge back on my cc. He did respond to that email. I ended up with the full order after that email.

Not worth the aggravation.
