I'm looking at buying a ported 2018 IM, who has done this and what do you think? Worth it or not? I'm not going CobraJet, it's either the ported 2018 IM or the Boss IM.
Car already has:
JLT, LT's, catted X, Lund tune

Thanks for the reply and link. After reading through it I’m not sure which IM to get. Reason being I don’t take the car to the track so I don’t get that high in the RPMs often.
I do want to get an IM though to compliment my other mods. Maybe a Boss IM. Like one guy said, it does what he needs and looks good.

I got the boss 302 for the looks alone mostly as I don't track it nor race it so not sure if I really gained Al that much power but I got it for 315 did the install myself but I feel it was a worthwhile mod

Yes! It was your post that I read and thought, I'm like that, I don't track it or race it. I get on it from time to time, but that's about it.
For me with the LT's, JLT, X pipe, it just seems like the next logical mod. I'm not sure what else to do besides a new head unit (stereo).

Realistically if you dont rev the engine theres not reason to go ported or boss IM. The main purpose is to breathe better in the higher RPMs. Under normal driving you wont gain much. So if you could give a better idea what you want with the car you have a better chance of getting good advice.

I do like to get on it pretty much every time I drive it. It's not a DD so it doesn't get out every day but I have been driving it more. I'd call it spirited driving, I like to get on it at lights, merging on the hwy, etc. It may see 1/4 action in the future, not sure yet.
My wife loves it and I'm sure does a lot of "spirited" driving when she drives it.
I'm guessing some type of IM is the next mod.

LT's, JLT, Catted X, MGW, Lund Tune

Good video, they didn't have the Boss IM, but overall a good video. I think if I do go with an IM it'll be the 2018. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth the money. I research stuff and research it some more before spending $$$.

One thing about these Mustangs is you have so many different options to go to as far performance and after market parts go

Both are good. I just sold my boss to get a gen 3 manifold that I'll be putting on these week. I want to give it a try since it gets so much hate but the results say other wise haha. If you're in the All Motor Coyote group on facebook Kelly Aiken did a nice review on his ported gen 3 manifold and was able to get a 10.8 out of it. If you got a chance to get a ported one go for it.

for gen 1 intake vs the boss. The gen1 beats it all over the low end up to about 6800rpm or so. then thats where the boss intake makes the power...

So if your not going to be tracking the car, Stick with your stock intake, or get a gen3 intake. porting may gain you some, but not enough to justify the cost imo, unless your going full out trying to squeeze all the power out you can, which you arent.

If i were you i'd probably stick with your stock intake. but if your set on changing it out, and have it down to gen3 vs boss... then gen3 by a mile. The cobra jet is hands down the best, especially N/A.

Most of the tests you see are of a ported 18 vs a stock Boss. The Boss needs to be ported as the stock runners have a smaller cross section than the '18 or a CJ. I picked up 1.5mph by porting my Boss.

2018 is good, got mine ported from 1320 Junkie, never had the chance to dyno tune it but i ran 12 Flat on 28'' tires and an automatic full weight car.

IMO the boss is much better on turbo applications than NA, but it is still a very choice that i would've gone with if i wasn't curious to see how the 2018 intake performs on real life.
