Guys, I am looking to buy an outdoor playset for my daughter. She will be three in June. I am looking for something with a slide, swings, maybe monkey bars, and such. Budget is about $1k, I can do the install myself.

So, what do you guys recommend?

My brother in law and myself both purchased our from Sams Club. Each were right around $1K and have been great. We live in Michigan and it’s also held up well through the ever changing climate.

I’ll post pics ASAP

I don’t think you can buy the lumber and swings for that budget.

When my time comes, I might try to hobble something together.

I would hunt FB market and Craigslist for the fancy cedar ones, they practically give them away.

There is a window that they use them, and its fairly small.

I built the pressure treated monster with plans and parts kit from Home Depot in 2000.

Cut it up last year, it was 9 ft tall and no one wanted it.

You can have the commercial grade swings, I couldn’t stomach throwing them away......

$999 right now at Sams Club. They have several others for the $1000 option.

The less expensive plastic set (like Sam's Club set above) might be a good option because it's common for kids to use the play set for awhile and then get tired of it. The more money you spend, in the end the more pain when you end up tearing it down to get rid of it, unless you find a buyer. My son-in-law bought a new full-feature cedar set for the granddaughters when they were younger. They loved it for a few months and then it just sat there, rarely used, and the kids found other fun things to do like swimming in their pool.

The full feature cedar or redwood sets are really nice; even nicer when the kids use it regularly.

$1,299 @ Walmart (cedar stained)

Here's a whopping cedar set for a whopping $2598 @ Walmart! I know it's way over your budget, but it probably rivals what the town playground probably offers. :)

My brother-in-law has a smaller cedar (or redwood) set that he bought for his grandkids maybe 5 years ago. Slightly smaller than the one in the first photo. They do use it all the time, so he's definitely gotten his money's worth.

We bought the backyard adventures set years ago. Kids loved it. It was stupid expensive. Gave it away for free when they got older. I don’t regret it.

I'm putting together a Backyard Discovery Eagle's Nest Elite right now for my son, really impressed with the quality of cuts and fitment. $1800 shipped from Costco, they have cheaper stuff too. Here's where I left off today and what it's supposed to look like when done.

Just saying that you could hang a swing from a two post lift with a top brace........

And when the kids got old enough, you could spend quality time with the them working on cars.

Of course you will want to put it in a detached four car “playhouse/garage” with HVAC and plumbing.

Do it for the children.
