So I noticed my car had been a bit rough time to time, and today it would not boost over 5 psi.
My FIL has the ford diagnostic computer today so he grabbed codes and we got p1229. ICP failure.
I have warranty so I’ll likely do that but has anyone had this happen to their gt500?

While not commonplace, I've certainly read/heard other reports of I/C pump failure. If you haven't already done so, you should confirm the problem isn't something more trivial, like the I/C pump fuse. Good luck!

Being brushless, these are not as common to die as the older brushed ones.
Deff check the relay as they are known to stick. Also check the wiring to the relay as they are fairly known to melt some wires.

Bypass the relay first and jumper the pins. If it doesnt come on, check the wires coming out of that harness to see if melted at all around the connector

I've seen a few of these type issues on the 13-14 be the result of shorts in the wiring. If the relay checks out, unplug the harnesses near the pump and check the connectors for burned contacts.

I thought my pump failed last season, turned out to be a bad relay. Happened racing at M1, you can imagine my horror seeing antifreeze spraying on the windshield that day!!!

The worst place to have an oopsie haha. My father in law is checking if they have a pump In stock at the dealer, but with harnesses bieng a possible issue I’ll just do the 100$ deductible. Not worth buying and doing myself

If you have a warranty why bother diagnosing it. Just drop it off and wait for a call to pick it up.

it’s still 100$ deductible- and my service advisor is also my FIL so I dint mind buying the part and doing it myself. (I’ve done brakes, rotors, caliper rebuild, changed out all the hoses after the hydra hose blew, had a windshield washer nozzle break and changed that out for 3$). It’s a cost vs benefit

well if it’s a pump it’s well over $200 alone. Plus labor. So yea **** that. For $100 deductible I’d drop it off all day long. I work on all my cars but if I had a flat fee for someone else to fix it with parts and labor for that rate, it’s a no brainer.
I don’t enjoy working on cars. I only do because it cost too much for others to work on them for me. Lol

Pretty much same here, I enjoy it when i have time to do the fix on my own schedule, but with the possibility of a harness being needed too due to burnt plugs decently common apparently.. it’s out of my wheel house. Just waiting for the word that the pump is there since they had to order. Really don’t want to be stuck in my f150 until it’s fixed lol

That’s nice they give free OJ at the dealer. I prefer medium pulp.
Even better while watching Pulp Fiction.
Hopefully there’s no pulp stuck in the pump, contrary to Cleetus, these cars can’t run on Mountain Dew or OJ.
:)
Ok, done playing around, hopefully you get it fixed up, let us know on the cause.

It’s mandatory since we’re in Florida

So update: ICP changed, relays changed, every damn thing changed (well almost lol). Still no boost after a few minutes.

BUT finally last night after picking the car up earlier in the day, WE GOT A CODE. And now we have a PCM ordered. Charge cooler pump failure from the pcm burning out. Apparently the surge jumped the fuse and got the board.

(I had pics of this but I cant reduce the size sooooo)
Cars ready finally, PCM was alright but after stripping all the harness tape, found a burnt wire in the harness from the relay to the ICP. Picking it up tomorrow and hoping we’re done!

In the ends it was a teeny burn mark on a harness plug. Cars good as new and hopefully staying home for awhile.
