Tune Issue or Other?

Hello,

Finally got my cobra out of storage after a long winter, since I just purchased it in the fall. Been able to take it for a handful of drives and noticed a couple issues.

1. This happened twice last year as well - will be driving and while coming to a stop, clutch is in, the engine will die. Previous owner (my friend) had this happen to him once after switching from a diablo tune to sct but never thought anything of it. This last time it happened to me right before turning across traffic which left me with no power steering. Most of the time it runs fine, no issues and I didn't have that issue come up again after re-starting.

Did some reading and a bad IAC can cause this also. It was suggested to switch back to the diablo tune however if it was a tuning issue wouldn't it happen all the time? Leaning towards replacing the IAC.

2. Started a pull in 1st, shift to 2nd, then go to shift to 3rd and the engine basically loses all power, back fires. Guessing this isn't a tuning issue either based on the threads that I found. Start with the fuel filter and then PPRV delete.

Appreciate your time and any insight you can give. Just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

You car is now 17 years old. It has a "Canned" generic tune. Please get a good custom tune so you don't melt your engine. Also, data is key so datalogging would tell you a lot of what might be going on.

One thing on tunes is they are "Flashed". Meaning they don't change. If the car was running properly before, and now has an issue, it's mechanical.

Thanks very much! That's what I figured. That is my plan, start doing some logging with the X4 and get a custom email tune, just started looking for some reputable guys to do so.

Will grab a IAC this week.

Once again I appreciate it!

You said it worked fine with the Diablosport tune and it started acting up with the SCT tune. So I'd say the tune is part of the issue at least. Especially if it's a canned tune as mentioned.

The PPRV delete is for a shift hesitation between shifts. It doesn't cause backfires usually. And it's something that can be tuned out.

You can just clean the build up off the iac and put just a tiny amount of grease on the shaft and work it back and forth a bunch till the stiff spots are gone

there are a few parameters in the tune that can be adjusted to tune out the hesitation on shifting. My old tune didn't, most recent tune does. I just bought all the stuff to tune myself and am going to focus on that. Lmk if you need some info.
