Rubber boots shot on ball joints, going w/ Steeda X2, do I really need bump steer kit?

The moog stuff mentioned is quality stuff.

Another thing to consider later...imo...should you keep your kmember, is global west del-a-lum (DELRIN) front control arm bushings. They shift the control arms forward, thus the motor weigh a bit backward.

The shifting of the control arms forward with the Global west bushings in minimal and doesn't really help shift the weight of the engine back much. Honestly I'd be shocked if the weight distribution was changed by 0.5%. The real benefits come in that they act more like bearings and remove all of the bind that is caused by the stock rubber bushings. The other big benefit is that they allow you to run more caster which is something that these cars love. Increasing caster will also increase the camber gain of the tire being loaded in a corner. After going through two sets of poly bushings (Energy & Steeda) and then switching to the global west bushings I have NO idea why anyone would ever want to run poly. Honestly I ended up running poly because MM tech support scared me away from them, probably the one time I should have NOT listened to them.

But it sounds like the OP is a little overwhelmed with just CC plates and ball joints and I don't see him tackling something like this right now. OP if you go down this road with the global west bushings I can help you with some tips on install. Honestly the hard part is getting the old crap out of the control arm.

I just didn't expect the replacement of ball joints to lead to so many other items that could be replaced and the correlation between each component. I just got done tearing the IRS subframe out of the car and replacing bushings...I think I'll wait until the fall/winter to do the same for the front. I'd like to get the car back on the road now that the weather is nice!

I've lowered import cars in the past when I was younger but not to this level with ball joints/bump steer kits/cc plates/control arms etc etc.

Totally understand. Whatever you do with the front DO NOT install any poly bushings.

Again the FE suspension is accessible. You can introduce changes a bit at a time.

Research at your leisure.
Make a list or spread sheet and enjoy each new mod.

Hell most of the stuff I have on mine is overkill for a daily driver...but as with any mods, is is more about want than need..

I just put a steeda rear sway bar in on my irs.....why?
My gas tank was out for a fuel pump, and nylon filter connector mod/install..
the swaybar was on my mod list..
those were reasons enough.

I still have better irs toe bars to buy and solid AL diffy bushings to install as well..because.

So glad that I negotiated my mustang mods into the wedding ring I gave her...;-)

Okay got and installed the Moog ball joints and installed them, seem to be very nice quality! I have to pickup a small grease gun to pack them with the zerk fittings. Was gonna grab one of these over lunch but what kind of grease do I want to use for the ball joints and tie rod ends? Is the grease that comes with it okay or do I want some type of lithium grease or ?

Grease debate.

Basic chassis lube.

Unless you want go crazy.

There are some cool options

Honestly after years of doing front end work.

Oem non lubeable last twice as long as any after market to me.

With some exceptions
like fords rubber tie rods you had to. Those were junk

Thanks guys, I didn't want to start a grease debate ;) The grease that came it in was lithium #2, Google seemed to think that was fine to use so I'm gonna squirt that in tonight.

50k is nothing

You can get just boots.

FWIW. Moog took over TRW chassis parts years ago.
But it’s crazy how a lot of stuff is just rebox.
Where do you get just boots ?
I have a set of control arms an ball joints , with 20k miles , joints are perfect , boots are not .
