Was installing lowering springs in front and the mount split in half. Is this normal? Ways to avoid it?

I picked up the KYB strut mounts. Half price, same quality, for anyone having issues with the ford ones.

I would order the GT500 strut mounts. You will need to run GT500 struts. It makes a great difference in ride quality.

There's also Steeda's HD strut mounts, which include camber adjustability that those others do not. With lowering will come some camber change that you'll probably want to correct, and doing this at the strut mount location is a far better solution than half-strength $30 aftermarket "crash bolts".
