Last fall – November – at the drag strip I blew a head gasket. Came home and parked it. Earlier in the year, I came across a low mile complete motor and trans out of a 2011 GT500. Purchased it and put it in. Therefore, I have a complete 5.4 long block - MMR 1000 motor available.

Looks like #2 cylinder is where the gasket let go. You can see this in the picture of the passenger side head. Using a borescope each piston looks good. The asking price of $5500 takes into consideration that it hasn’t been torn down. Everything you see is for sale. Here are the highlight details:

Only 5,400 mi’s on MMR 1000 motor -

MMR 5.4 Street Mod 1000 Shortblock -11cc with 6303-M54 crank
4340 - 6.658 Manley H-beam Rods
ARP Mainstud kit for 5.4 Iron Block
Forged Manley pistons with Chromoly pins
M2500R "RED FIRE" Coating
ARP Head Studs
FRPP GT500 Oil Pump

5.4 GT500 Heads
2011 Shelby GT500 Valve Covers
Innovators West 10% Lower Pulley

Link below shows more detail of the MMR 1000.

MMR shortblock alone is $4999 which doesn’t include ARP, coated pistons, freight, tax, etc. If you looking to upgrade your motor, $5500 for everything is a very fair price for someone. I won’t part out. Open to anyone who wants to come and look at it. I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.

** If anyone is interested I have a TR6060 Tranzilla upgraded transmission with 2011 flywheel for sale as well…

Head gasket failure has nothing to do with a built motor.... That's a tuning issue.
Ok here it is - Concur about the motor, not thinking it was the tune for as I've had the same Jon Lund tune for 10+ years. On the runs I was data logging and there was no signs of overheating. When I came home after it happened, I found that the leak was caused from the freeze plug dislodging behind the water pump - see picture below. It came loose and without checking anything, I assumed it was caused by pressure hence blown headgasket. That's when I came across the motor and trans out of a 2011 GT500 and went that quick fix route. I recently did a leak down test on all cylinders with readings of 10% or less. I'm thinking now that there's not much wrong with the engine, based on the leak down test and because - my thought - if there was pressure the freeze plug would have pushed out vs. lodged in. In the near future, I'm going to tare it down and find out.

I'm no longer selling it as a long block and will be parting it out -

Based on the findings, I will be selling:
- MMR 5.4 Street Mod 1000 Shortblock
- 5.4 GT500 Heads/cam
- 2011 Shelby GT500 Valve Covers
- Innovators West 10% Lower Pulley
- Timing cover with pulleys

Is the crank drilled out for the longer GT500 bolt?

Not sure, when I bought the MMR SB, MMR provided a ARP crank bolt.
