CMMGs are a good in between that offers good quality without being super expensive nor super cheap. I have had a few of them and they have always been too quality in that they run and run without issue, and you don't worry about abusing it and scratching it up as opposed to a lot of the boutique rifles out there. There's a lot of other middle of the road brands out there and that is where I would look.

I've only gone to the range twice with my CMMG and ran just about 1K rounds total (500 each session) with a cleaning after each visit.

Ran like a top, which I can't say about my S&W 15-22, which stovepipes at least every mag, sometimes more.

I have a Ruger AR556 and I like it for what it is. It has worked flawlessly in the ~1k rounds thrown through it (all Federal XM193). I have 2 Aero Precision SBRs (built by me) and I love both of them. Whatever you choose, throw in a Geissele trigger. They have a better finger feel than finger ****ing a hottie. I have the SSA-E and SD-E in my 5.56 and 300blk SBRs respectively. As soon as black Friday comes around I'll be getting a trigger for my AR556.

time for mags and ammo =) maybe a red dot

Good luck, a real ACOG optic will cost more than your rifle. I would love to have one but can't justify the price for my purposes.

Ruger and SW make excellent firearms, and their ARs are no exception. They stand behind their product.

Aero Precision is another excellent company. DPMS isn't bad, but ever since they got bought out by Remington, quality hasnt been the same.

I have also heard excellent things about Brownells rifles and Palmetto State Armory. Only caveat about Palmetto is it takes them FOOORRREEEVVVEEERRRRR to process orders.... but it's good and cheap so..

Ive got a 10 year old DPMS and she runs like a top. I beat the hell out of it since its a cheap gun (rare cleanings, garbage ammo) and it refuses to jam up or quit on me.

Not a bad gun to be honest.

DOMS was one I was looking at until I read they were taken over by Remington. When I bought my last hunting rifle I initially wanted a Remington 700 BDL. After reading about how Remington’s QC has gone to shit I went with Bergara and I am so impressed.

Bergara rifles are top notch. Their customer service is top notch too. Those guys know how to make a rifle.

Trust me when I say go check out Holosun optics! I have a Holosun and a Vortex and I prefer the Holosuns. They are getting more expensive as they expand their products but they are dirt cheap in comparison to the big names and the quality is great! The one expensive optic I plan to buy is an Elcan Spectre DR, but other than that I will probably just use Holosuns for everything else.

That is one thing that I am very limited on is optics as most do not have the settings for the 5.45 ballistics. Sure I could go 5.56 but then have to take about 400 yards off from what the max would be on the range of the 5.56 round.

Just get a FFP scope or red dot with a known reticle size and learn to range using mil or moa reticle based on either height of the target, width of their chest or other items such as road signs near the target as constants. Takes a little practice, but for minute of man it estimates distance very quickly.

This can also be done using your front sight post if you know it’s width.

Then remember your aim points on the body for 0-400 yards. Center mass, neck and head depending on distance.

Factor in wind drift as appropriate.

If you want to get hits past 400, buy a normal scope with finger turrets and learn
Your come ups.

Last fall I bought the M&P15 Sport II on it's reputation. Paid $480 from Kentucky Gun. It's a hoot to shoot. I need a Sig Sauer red dot.

Good overall review:

Here’s the “meltdown” video. The fire starts at 6:00 - lol:

Only drawback is I can't shoot it out my back door 'cuz I live in the city - lol.

EoTech is the site to go to....I have a sig =is garbage. What is the purpose of your selectiion...home defense, plinking,..long/short barrel...I have a NIB Bushmaster w/14" fixed phantom suppressor, A traditional Colt SP1 sporter, and my favorite is my IWI Tavor x95. As you can see this full 16 inch barrel and bullpup design makes it so short it can be used within the confines of a car...or concealed under jacket. The EoTech is a masterpiece holographic site. This rifle is used by Israili army...

AND NOW is the time to order ammo! With lunatic governors ..get it wile you can..I buy by the case (1000rds)....There has been litigation out west over this.... My buying days are over with but I would buy 1-3 cases depending on firearm- 3 for 223, 1 for 40S&W and 10mm.
