For those who have not read the previous thread, this thread is related to this car......

His reply to my email from yesterday......

-----------------------------------------------------------

The Cobra R program in Australia was championed by The late Howard Marsden ,
A well known Ford racing man over the years ,he instigated the build of two cars by Prancing Horse Racing with the plan of building limited edition road cars .
They contracted me to race them and the car was great and successful but the politics took its toll and it was systematically slowed down by rev reduction and ride height adjustments that it eventually became uncompetitive.
Unlike your American Mustang Cobra R ours had the 4.7 engine but with quite a few Ford racing parts such as rods , pistons and camshafts , also throttle body I believe .
The car had special front uprights designed by Harrop engineering as well as Harrop brake calipers .
It was a true homolagation special but unfortunately the Ford bean counters killed it as a true production car .
It was sponsored by Budweiser by the way so it attracted lots of attention from the public and the media .
Hope this helps ,
Best regards ,
John Bowe .

I intentionally "X'ed" over the last portion of his phone number, no need to give that to the world.

Hmmmmm, a 4.7 instead of the American 5.4......., maybe the 4.6 DOHC that we are familiar with here in the states?

I have replied to his email asking if by chance he knew if it was one of the 300 2000 Cobra R's built? or a prototype? or a Mustang made to replicate the 2000 Cobra R look?

Yes, I agree. It seems like many people hide behind emails and/or VM's in today's world, OR just don't have time for other people. He (John Bowe) replying to some information about a car that he drove 20 (or not quite 20) years ago.......He is a stand up guy.

Here is the reply (this morning) to my email from yesterday.....

_________________________

It was not one of the 300 , it was going to be an Australian version as I said but it got screwed over by the racing category it was in and the accountants at the Ford Motor Company .
A great shame because it was a fantastic car .
I think they still exist somewhere in racing trim but haven’t been seen for years .
Cheers ,
JB

I did sent him one last email this morning related to the BUD #9 Maisto, just to see if he knows anything about that special model with his name on it? I attached a picture of it in the email. I am not going to bother him anymore about it after that, I am happy for the information he has provided thus far.
