Damn dude, I don’t really know what kind of hiccups you’ve had so far. To this point you’ve made it look easy.

Hang in there, You’ll get it figure out and you know as well as I do, it’ll be better once it’s running than it is today.

That’s the thing, we haven’t. While we’ve encountered challenges associated with every custom build, everything has gone incredibly smoothly. This is like going from 100 to zero. That’s the crummy part. It’s also what makes it such a tough pill to swallow

I’m sorry to hear about the motor, buddy. I admire your will and your perseverance to see this project through. Here’s hoping that the fix will be minimal.

Please don’t apologize, you’ve given us this amazing build and let us be apart of it. So we will get through this together and push on!

Just a bump in the road bud.

No one's rushing you to get it done, we all want it done right.

You've got a great head on your shoulders, "just keep swimming"

That really sucks! Sorry to hear. I’ve been following this build and it’s amazing what you’ve done is such short time. You’ll get it back up and done in no time. Thanks for sharing this build with everyone.

Sooooooo sorry buddy!!!!

The no oil psi thing is a tough one. Knowing how the oil pump works, you really couldn’t have screwed anything up by swapping gears.

The only thing I can think of is the pickup tube was perhaps not sealed some how and the pump was not seeing much/if any oil. Did you remember to install the black seal for the tube? See below

You’ll get through it!

Silver lining... at least your coyote doesn’t look like mine currently! Lol

You got my text man, just let me know if you need anything or just to bench race.
You got this, and this ones for him, so this is just a bump in the road.

Ah DAMN! That’s heartbreaking news. I am hoping for the best. It’s was only 900rpm, not 7k rpm, so maybe bearings, rings and valve guides? I hope it’s not bad. If you need to bend an ear feel free to call any time. I hope you find the reason it happened so it doesn’t repeat

I’m local, what can I do to help? I’m nowhere near as gifted mechanically as you are, but willing to what what it takes to get the job done. Dead serious.

I think we’ve come close to hunting down the reason. I’ll keep everyone updated. Thank you Geoff!

Man, this just sucks. Only thing I can think of is did you pack the pump with petroleum jelly or the like when you swapped the gears?

No load and idle rpm only thing it saw?

Thank you guys all very much for your support. We’ll get the motor out today and report back on the damage. Depending on how bad it is, the plan could range anywhere from sending it out for a quick rebuild to shutting the project down while I save for considerable upgrades

Wow, I wasn't expecting to read this. Sorry to hear about it but I can feel your pain. I spent a tone on my motor rebuild only to pull it out after 3 weeks of tuning due to a crack in one of the exhaust valves that should have shown up in the rebuild process. It sux right now but when it is up and running it will just be a memory and a story to tell.
Hang in there "if it were easy anyone could do it"

Sorry to hear Joe, I'm sure most in here have a similar story. If they don't then they haven't modded hard enough, ha. Find the problem, fix as necessary and make it better, if that's possible. Its all going to work out.
Staying in here for one of the best builds ive seen in a while!

Thank you very much guys! I sincerely appreciate you. I mean that.

We managed to undo what took 3 months to DO in a few hours today lol
We found the issue and it’s maddening to say the least.

We’re running a ford performance remote oil filter. We were positive that lines weren’t crossed. Well, they had to have been. The block portion of the adapter was not marked IN/OUT but the filter portion was. We presumed (this is where we have to accept full responsibility, never assume anything you’re not positive about). Well, clearly what we though was in...was out.

So, we got the pan off and noticed a high concentration off metal shavings but only at the back of the pan (which would make sense being furthest from the pump/filter). We knew then it was either a main bearing or thrust bearing. After pulling the main cap it looked just fine. Sigh of relief number one. All rod clearance was still fine. More relief. The thrust bearing was absolutely destroyed. But as long as the crank didn’t spin the bearing in the block we might have escaped major catastrophe. Thankfully it did NOT. The block is fine. Actually, even the crank could use just a polish and be fine. Since Boss Forged cranks are only $400 new I’ll play it safe and go that route. We’ll be able to get away with a set of main bearings, the crank and call it a day.

All that to say, we may get this thing back and ready for the dyno in a couple weeks. No need to send the block off. I’m thankful to God for showing me some mercy on this one! Truth be told the extra adversity will only make me appreciate this car more when it’s finally on the road

Again, thank each of you so much
