The Ford Mustang Bullitt is set to sunset after the ’20 model year, and its replacement—the Mustang Mach 1—is supposedly set to arrive for 2021, which makes this prototype perplexing.

The prototype in question is wearing camouflage front and rear. It also appears to be wearing the Dark Highland Green exterior paint that is a signature of the current Bullitt. Given the presence of the camouflage, it would appear that the vehicle will wear some unique fascias front and back. The front end, in particular, looks to be slightly different than what’s currently available on the Mustang line. Meanwhile, the bright multi-spoke wheels appear more in line with what we’d see on the Mustang Pony Package. That said, the bright window trim seems to be right in line with what the Bullitt currently offers.

Little is currently known about the Mustang Mach 1, other than the fact that it will launch for the ’21 model year. It will allegedly have some performance enhancements over the traditional Mustang GT on which it will be based.

I think Ford’s gone full PC at this point. They are basically in full panic mode. This is noting more than some mild refresh.

That's interesting Travis. It would seem more to be a new Bullitt vs. a Mach, but then Ford doesn't always travel the straight road. With the success of the GT-500 (Ford knocked it out of the park), a 2021 Bullitt is kind of anti-climatic.

My $.02... Mach 1 mule. Using a Bullitt makes sense if that car is the basis for the new Mach 1 with new facias and a bump in HP, say around 500HP?

Apparently it's going to be the "most track focus 5.0L mustang."

Which to me sounds like it's probably a GT350 with a coyote and probably an auto option?

Track&Handling performance, just like the Mach 1s from ‘69-‘71 (the only ones that count)

*sarcasm*

edit: the real Mach 1 comment was not sarcasm

Whatever we will call it. It needs to be 550hp N/A 5.2 cross plane crank with dct from gt500 with a light weight option like carbon wheels no back seat and so on. And please don’t make it out of my price range.

Yeah, I highly doubt any of that will happen. But it will be interesting to see what they do to the car to make it what they claim it is. A DCT would be interesting.

Pick your poison.

This would excite me IF:

--Base, base, base model version of the GT500---basically only the Predator is kept from the 500
--Manual trans
--Crank windows/non power door locks
--Standard Mustang GT suspension and brakes

Nothing fancy.. just a huge motor and base model everything else.

But that wont happen so............. carry on! lol

I doubt it too. And that’s why we all need to tell Ford what we want. These cars are getting way to expensive for pathetic tuner mustangs. We need a real world beater this time. The gt350 was fun and the gt500 is a let down. For the price that is. The zl1 1le is by far the better car and lots cheaper. And the new c8 is a wake up call. And now that used mclaren mp-4c’s are under 100k ford needs to rethink this price point. I mean seriously $100k for a freaking gt500 is BS. Ford it’s time to appeal to real people that work hard for a living that still bleed blue.
