I've come across possibly a rare one. Ive heard about ford adding the vortech supercharger in a package but never have seen one until today. Private seller has a 96 black on black convertible with vortech. Checking the VIN on auto checked it does mention it was supercharged. Carfax vin matches up clean title but didnt say s/c. Could this be possible?? Also found the old ad from when it was at a dealership and it mentioned it got a new motor at 50k miles. Current owner has the car over 18 months now 51k miles. Is this possible!?

I know Kenny brown made one but wasn't sure if a dealership could modify a car especially with a vortech at first time purchase.

Also there is no aftercooler. Is that a must need?

Sounds like craigslist marketing nonsense to me.

Don't NEED a charge cooler if boost is kept low, but you will want to add an intercooler/aftercooler/meth if you plan to go higher or just for peace of mind.

So Auto Check states it has a blower. Does it state when and where the blower was installed? Could the blower then have been added later by an owner, and it got recorded in the history?

No, Ford never sold such a car, but it was a popular mod in the 90s/00s They were commonly referred to as "Vobras".

I found out what dealership the car was sold from and it's local. Gonna get to the bottom of this. Soemthing doesn't add up. Why is a supercharged 51k mile selling for 12.5k.

Car is with owner in CT, uninsured and has an NY title. This is the previous ad stating motor was replaced but this owner did not disclose this to me. I dug deep.
For Sale: 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra in Mahopac, New York

Also here is the dealership video before 2nd owner:

Now the current fb marketplace ad:

Owner claims no knowledge of current mods. Says it came with vortech. Either playing stupid or complete misunderstanding. He only has the car about 18 months and 1k miles. Concerning no? Oh and he's 85.

So you were interested in this car and now are finding questions about it. Why waste more time investigating? Just walk away and find something else. That's exactly what I would do.

I'm still gonna call the dealer out of curiosity, but yeah this seems like a potential nightmare. Ah oh well. Car looked real awesome and drove nice until it pulled to the left outta nowhere when I touched the brakes in neutral. Wheel tightened up and I went into the other lane! But I was thinking maybe it was the calipers since it was barley driven?? Ah just sucks because the clutch and transmission and engine seemed to working fine. On to the next one!

Let us know what you end up buying.

Where in Connecticut are you? I'm in Cheshire.

Fairfield county. Not too far from ya. I feel like I bought the shifter pad from you years ago. You were selling something like that. I was on this forum alot in my 20s haha. Been outta the cars last 10 years but the midlife crisis is real!

Ah, Fairfield. I used to live in West Haven (grew up along the water) and worked for 16 years in Milford.

Yeah, you probably bought the shifter gasket from me. The ones that I sell now are twice as thick. They are more durable now.

12.5k is too much money for that car anyway, imo.

But I wouldn't let the brakes scare you off. Simple fix.

If its on the factory rotating assembly still, then I'd say it's on borrowed time.

Also really curious about the intercooler setup. I know it's been tried on these cars many times but I've yet to hear of a set up that actually works correctly.

Still, lots of good bits in there. The suspension looks sorted and even though it's a T-45, if he has paperwork on the rebuild by T45Source then I doubt you have to worry about hurting that thing anytime soon.

Bigger question is do you wanna drop $16k on that? There is a really well built turbo SN95 for sale for a similar price on here, and at $16k you are basically in Termi territory. Really comes down to what you want.

You can find a better deal. I bought my 98 cobra with original 22k miles with a full Griggs gr40 suspension, built t45, built Torsen rear end, full cage, v1 strim intercooled and a ton of other things for 13k
