Hey everyone, so after looking around for some fox bodies and 64-69’s I found a 96’ Mystic with 54k original confirmed miles on it. The kicker was that it had just about every mod you could do to it, with no documentation. The mod list is as follows:

-Vortech V2 Intercooled kit w/ battery relocation, set to 12psi (Confirmed)
-Forged Internals (Unconfirmed)
-Blower Cams (Definitely Cammed but don’t know which cam)
-Tubular K-Member (Confirmed)
-Tubular A-Arms (Confirmed)
-TKO600 5-Speed (Unconfirmed)
-4.10 Gears (Confirmed)
-L/T Headers (Confirmed)
-Flowmaster Exhaust (Confirmed)
-Lots of suspension mods, haven’t figured out which.

I know I know, why the F would I buy a car with mods I couldn’t confirm? Well, because when you can get a 96’ Mystic with 54k original miles for $10.5k you do it and worry about the rest later. The car is also extremely clean. My plans for it include taking it to a shop for tuning to make sure it isn’t rich or lean and turn the boost to maybe 9lbs, have a shop verify the forged internals, turn boost back up to 12lbs, and swap to 3.55 gears.

So what do you think? Great opportunity seized or idiot way in over his head?

Nice find! If all the mods were done right then the price is a bargain!

If you're on a 25" tall tire with 4.10s and a T-45, you should be around 2600-2700rpm at 70mph.

At 55mph, you should be at 2100rpm.

Keep the 4.10s at your power level. If you're worried about tire spin, get rid of those cheap shit Sumitomo tires.

The transmission is a TKO600. On the back it has NT555s.

dude, I've got more than that in my car, its all forged but basically stock, and I haven't even driven it yet so i'd say you did fine.

My gut feeling is anybody willing to spend money to match the intake parts with mystic (which is mucho grande $$$$) probably did his best to make sure everything else was done right. that's a good sign for sure.

The transmission is a TKO600. On the back it has NT555s.

It either has a .64, .68, or a .82 5th gear. With a .82 5th, 3000rpm is 66mph.

NT555 is still a street tire with a 320 tread wear rating, it's not going to grip well.

You want a decent amount of gear in it to go the motor to rpm quickly and make boost in lower gears.

The TKO600 has a .64 5th gear.
The T-45 has a .67 5th gear.

Although negligible, you have less final drive gearing with the TKO.

What size tire is on the rear?

Does the car have a Speed Cal? How was the speedometer corrected for the new gears?

Here’s why I joined the site, I don’t know the answers to this and it’s something I need to ask.
