I'm surprised at the public for still buying new ones. Imagine if we were still rolling on the 2011-2014 mustang chassis.

Personally I’d still go buy a red eye today. I don’t have time for the road course even though that’s what I prefer, and I get bored at the drag strip.

sometimes I just want a fun car I can hop in on the weekends or random nice work days to tool around with but also be able to squeeze the kids in. The challenger or even more so the charger fit that bill 100%.

I doubt I’m the only one. I’d still like to see some more out of them because the viper easily proves they have the capability but well have to wait it seems for future prospects.

Would those S197's have T56's and an options 800hp +6L engine?

Fox 1979 - 1993 : 14 years
SN 1994-2004 : 10 Years
S197 2005-2014 : 9 years
S550 2015.... +5 years

Challenger 2008 - 2022, 14 years

How long did Ford milk the Panther and Ranger Platforms?

FCA has no money. They broke. But they took that situation and their busted ass LX platform that dates back to 1999 and have made it work.

The car maybe old but it's constant updates and tweaks have kept it relevant and competitive.

The size is much a detriment as it is a positive.

I blasted across the country in my 1320 and could not have picked a better car for it. They are fantastic daily drivers, look great and offer comparable performance for less money.

Also, being a retro style car, nothing FCA does will make people any happier. Just look at the Camaro and Mustang. The 6th Gen DESTROYS the 5th in every measurable way, but the smaller size and modern styling tanked sales.

The S550 has also had its ass kicked by the S197 in terms of sales.

Yearly Averages

S197 102k
S550 90k

G5 Camaro 81k
G6 Camaro 60k

Compare that to the Challenger

Gen 1 (08-14) - 45k
Gen 2 (15-19) - 65k

Challenger increases by 50% while the others dropped by 10% and 25% while investing hundreds of millions in new tooling. So tell me, who's the idiot that's out of touch with what consumers want?

Want me to buy a next Gen Charger or Challenger? That design better start by using the original tooling for the '68 Charger sheet metal.

I'm not going to be interested in a turbo-4 plug-in hybrid with a CVT transmission and touch less lift gate with folding rear seats for 7.

They could try peeling a few hundred pounds out of it instead of just adding more power...again.

An all new Charger/Challenger is coming by MY2024. They will engineer weight loss throughout the car. Their goal is to lose 300lbs, on average, from every model. Remember, the GT500 is now over 4000lbs., due to stricter crash test regulations and people wanting more and more creature comforts.

Well at least they are getting one more year out of the Old girl.

Too bad pricing will be way higher than it should be.

Watching FCA continue to release "new" versions of the challenger is getting kind of sad. It reminds me of Brett Favre at the end of his career. Still kind of had it but was really only in it for the money and would suit up for any amount no matter how small. We are now in the Vikings phase of the challenger platform.

Except Farve was a contender for the Super Bowl before the Saints put an illegal "hit" out on him.

Vikings had been dog shit before he joined and the Packers didn't do shit that season without him.

Your analogy sucks.

Stop getting hooked on the bullshit of "what's the newest fad/trend hipster gear" and focus on what something actually is.

LX cars are ****ing awesome and we should be glad you can still grab one new and improvements are still being made.

It's 1972 right now and you'll clamoring for the new efficient modern Mustang 2 yelling who wants a bloated big block B-body.

These cars aren't that impressive. You may like them but as it stands they are milking the shit out of an old ass platform.

Also, never said Fiat was stupid. Why would they ever change when idiots see 10 more HP and think it's something special.

They aren't holding onto an era, they aren't worthy of high praise. I'll be glad to see less of them on the road in the future but since they had a 20 year production run that may never happen either.
