Another low mileage Cobra. Wonder what it would have taken to get it sold?

There was a '94 Cobra Convertible Rio Red with a tan top, with a hair under 5,000 miles that just sold for $22,250 at auction by me a couple weeks ago. I'd imagine this one should be up there for sure.

Man I bought a 94 Cobra w/17k miles back in 2013 for $10k. Sold it in 2016 with 40k for $7,500. I swear some of these sellers THINK they’re sitting on a gold mine for these SN-95’s. (GT’s included). Cool time capsules though.

Yeah not gonna pay 20k. 12k is a fair deal.

And I agree with you guys as far as what it would be worth to me. I wouldn't want to "collect" an SN95 Cobra to not drive. It'll take decades to appreciate in any meaningful way to make that investment worth while and even still I'd rather throw some money into my 401k and see better returns.

However, to some extent it's the old adage that it's worth what someone is willing to pay. I was really surprised that the 94 Conv that I mentioned earlier went for $22.5k at auction. I estimated that it wouldn't go for any more than $15k but obviously someone wanted it enough.

Not sure why you’d keep miles off a run of the mill 95 Cobra. There are two other 95s that are better suited for low-mile collectibility, namely the 95 “2-top” convertible and the 95 Cobra R.

Other notable SN-95 collector Cobras are the 94 Indy 500 Pace Car Cobra convertible and the 96 Mystic Cobra.

for $20k id rather buy a bolt-ons 03/04 driver and just have a blast driving it. It would probably appreciate faster than a run of the mill 94-95 too, even after you account for the abuse and miles.

And the Saleen S351 R-Code my gosh what a cool car.

Seems like an odd thing to say. A "run of the mill" 95 Cobra with under 150 miles is a great thing. Why wouldn't someone do that? A 95 Cobra in shape like that is tough to find these days. In fact, you would have an easier time finding a 95 2 top or R with under 150 miles, than you would a standard 95 Cobra. In a sense, it's even more of a rare find.

There are more of all those models that got put away in the wrapper than most people realize.

Regardless I think we can agree that most of these exclusive, low mileage models were going to appreciate over time. This may be a stretch, but the 93 Cobra I feel helped jump start this craze. Several years ago, mid mileage 93’s were selling for mid teens. Now? Good luck finding a clean one for under $30K. What did an R sell for recently...$100k+? I think a lot of 94-95 collectors are hoping for a similar outcome. Still it’s going to take a very select niche market for these...IE those who grow up during the 90’s who haven’t quite reached it to their mid life crisis lol

As you move down the Mustang collector car “food chain,” yes, it would be more and more rare to find low mile examples. Imagine a V6 95 Mustang with 150 miles. There may not be any remaining today. My point was there are higher level Cobras in 95 that would be a more traditional collector car.
