Going to pick up car at end of month and would like to not take freeway home. Myrtle Beach SC to Boise ID. I have never been east of Tennessee and really not explored any roads twisty from Colorado east. A cross country drive, 2300 to 3000 miles in under 5 days in a new GT500 CFTP and no freeway. What roads back east are fun, fast, and curvy?

Wow, you're picking up a brand new GT-500 and you're going to drive 2,500 miles from Myrtle Beach to Bose. Most would trailer it back home. You'll have a blast, though, that's for sure.

What is that road the dragons tail in Tennessee I think.

Just looking at the map I’d go Chattanooga to Nashville to Memphis to Springfield to kc(say hi to nick), to Omaha to rapid city and the black hills which is spectacular, to jaskson hole to sunvalley and then Boise. Coeur d alene is awesome too!

Looks like tail of the dragon and the back of the dragon for sure. Staying south thru Texas then up thru Colorado. Anything in Louisiana. Yes, I drive my cars, why have them? Looking to not get tickets, but fun roads with no brakes, just turn.

I was hoping I could get dealer to do a ceramic coat for easy cleaning, paint will be chipped so no need for correction.

Expel if you want rock chip protection. The ceramic coat on top for easy cleaning.

Definitely do black hill South Dakota and Jackson hole.

You should consider a front end bra to keep road debris/paint chips to a minimum.

Congratulations! I’m jealous of the 500 plus your road trip!

If you want to wait / don’t have time to expel it or coat it prior to take off back home, bring a roll a 3m blue painters tape and cover the front end & high impact points. It might look goofy but it’ll work. I did this one one of mine.

Sorry guys, every car I own has rock chips, thats why I buy them. I guess every car I have bought over the years is now worth less than that perfect one in the garage, I was wondering about the funnest roads not the least graveled. I would make fun of the guy driving the blue covered car, and have. Drive it they have made almost 5000 of them and this is the first year, its going to be like the Hellcats, soon they will be every where. I will have had a blast, 20 years from now I will still have it, just like the other 13 mustang, rock chips and all.

I was just saying Louisiana has some of the shittiest roads in the south. You may be replacing a couple tires going through there on I-10 or I-20. Speed bumps in the middle of the highway type shit.

Thats good to know, no need for damage to car on wheels. Was wanting to stay off freeways thru to Texas, maybe wonder from there over to New Mexico then up thru Colorado. Wanting to enjoy car thru curvy back roads not cruse on interstate. thanks for input. Brent

Buy the temporary paint protection film if you don't want a professional install. It will save your paint and is designed for this sort of thing.

You should be able to get a nice little route up through Colorado.

I think you'll have a tough time keeping off the freeways in New Mexico, but at least in Colorado you should be able to run up through Trinidad on i25, go east on 160 to Durango (there is a little place there called the Lone Star Cafe, still the best biscuits and gravy I've ever found), head north on 550 and it will take you up through the mountains (to an extent) and eventually intersect i70. Those are smaller "highways" with nice views and hopefully some decent areas to lean on the car a bit. It's been a while since I went through there though.

There are other routes you could still take to maximize turns but you might just have to play with your GPS along the way.

You can stop in Grand Junction and grab some Palisade peaches (outrageously juicy, I do not recommend eating them in the car, you will be soaked).

That should be vastly more entertaining than regular interstates, and it doesn't take you through the very high elevations so you won't have to worry about a freak snow storm, since it's not uncommon in September in the mountains.

Oh yeah bring your mask, a lot of places won't let you in without.
