it was recommend i upgrade the alternator to 200amps. i reviewed this thread many many times and thanks to illtaketwlight for his links to the internals needed to do this. unfortunately he hasnt been on here in forever so i cant PM him directly with questions..

its been recommended to add the BPS pulley as well (which requires a new belt).

ill be making my own 4awg with inline megafuse since the PA performance one AM sells seems to have some issues.

who here has done this upgrade and what exactly did you do?

I have a NIB (never installed) BPS 10% underdrive alternator pulley for an 07-09 that you can have at a bargain. PM me if interested. My PA Performance alternator came with a 10% underdrive pulley already installed.

I went with a Nations alternator and have not had a problem since. 14.6 volts at idle with the lights on. With motorcraft battery. They use a clutch style pulley that keeps the alt from over spinning. I went through 3 stock ones an had it after that.

Had the OEM alternator and was trying to get the car tuned and my A/F ratio wasnt cooperating with the tuner. Turned out my 1 yr old alternator was failing and playing havoc with the tuner.

I had them get and install a nationwide alternator made for this motor and not a problem since
