Good review.....I've owned three Hellcats one auto and two manuals. I love the manual Hellcat even though it's geared wrong. I haven't felt a need to modify the power train at all. I tried doing some auto cross events in my last Hellcat and it was terrible. I've since bought a Boss 302 and added a Whipple for more of the track focused stuff. The Hellcat is just a great car to get in and drive. I'm 6'5" so love the size of the car. Dodge did something pretty special with these cars and it makes me reminisce about my old Buick GN which was another boat that didn't do anything great but made good power, was comfortable, and fun to drive.

Hindsite being 20/20 would you get the Charger if you were going HC?

Its funny you mention the charger. My wife and I were out to dinner last night and a dude rolled up with a WB scat and parallel parked in front of us. They are HUGE. I had to look this up: wheelbase is 120" and OA length 200." That is the same as a regular cab shortbox f150.

I have not driven one but I suspect they are like the challenger in terms of numbness but even more so. They look bad ass though. They did not make too many of them so I bet you would get your money back if you flipped it.

That said I personally would cough up for a track hawk or procharged SRT Jeep if I needed a vehicle that big. My guess is the weight is not that far off.

So basically they put a 100$, 200$, 300$, and up computer in line to save a 50 cent fuse that makes perfect sense lol. Is this because they give constant power to everything and brake the ground or am i completely wrong on the way they do the power circuits?

I believe so. I think I remember my boss mentioning that as the reason. He learned it in a vehicle programming class he took and the instructor brought it up as an example and asked everyone to guess what manufacturer builds their computer and electrical systems this way to show how stupid it is because there is no protections for the modules.

Don't know anymore
I've had a bazillion fords. Seriously, 13 mustangs, a few f150s and and explorer. The bs exhaust issue with the explorer has made me no longer a Ford guy. Kinda sad, but between an issue with the 5 speed in my 2004 mach and this explorer, Ford has screwed me for the last time.

My challenger is the best car I've owned new. I've yet to take it in for a mechanical issue. My 2013 gt had the control arms replaced and the ac replaced within just 30k miles. I love this forum and older mustangs, but if I'm being honest, ford has really found a way to piss off their fans. Wont own another new ford again. Kinda sad.

Thanks for your thoughts. If I were to ever buy a dodge product I do like the charger. I’ve only rented fancy V6 models and they drive very well and had decent power. My friend let me drive his Challenger RT and although it was a strong car, the drive was less comfortable and I felt it was more of a chore to drive.

From what I’ve read about them they are the best ‘point and shoot’ cars ever made.

To demonstrate how easy to drive (point and shoot) and how drama free the A8 Hellcat is, here is a video I made practicing 1/4 mile runs on an old farm road, recording with my iphone in my right hand the entire time.

After having a HC charger and now a Redeye Challenger, I'd go Charger.

i thought the most common first mod was leaving the stupid yellow things on the splitter?

first mod is to remove.

I do feel also the Challenger is muted. Although I know it is much more faster than my 18GTA10, it doesn't feel faster? Maybe its the lack of revs? Hard to beat the excitement of a stock coyote pulling to 7200, maybe the Voodoo.....

BTW, the Redye dynod 696/664.
