I never said the raptor sounds amazing lol....I swear nobody in this thread has actual reading comprehension. I said sound is not the end all be all that everyone in this thread is making it out to be.

I never claim to be a raptor expert and to know more about off roading than anybody else , my position in the debate was and will always be I understand why Ford doesn't listen to the ppl that want to use it more on road than off considering the whole base of the raptor conception is it being an off road baja capable truck first then a daily kid hauler mall crawler

My position with you has been the same, the raptor didnt suit what you wanted so you bought the other Ford truck that did. @My94GT did the same thing with his rebel .

All this said did you order a trx?
My point is there’s no reason why ford couldn’t have put a v8 in that truck. You act like it couldn’t do any of the things it does now if it were powered by 8 cyl. BS.

And no I haven’t ordered a TRX. My truck is my daily driver and I’m not trading my daily every year just to lose money. I waste my money on performance cars in which I have a garage full of. And my next purchase will be an r8 or c8 z06 if it looks promising. When I replace my truck, it will be either a TRX or v8 raptor(if available).

Assuming that the people that are enthusiastic about sound on their truck, is a sign of intent to only wanting to use said truck on road and not off road, is about as dumb as a seasoning a steak with water.

this is specially rich coming from a guy that admits to having little to no experience off road.

oh Kaz, poor poor... lol

Not assuming , was in discussion with said ppl long before you enter the thread and already discussed their needs in a truck....again keep trying , sooner or later you will post something factual

Sort of like a roll racer who has never set foot on a road course and comes into a thread about it and spouts his opinion?

You can see the irony in that right?

The TRX looks decent, I'm excited to see one in person. I have a feeling a buddy of mine who has a tuned gen 2 Raptor will probably buy one and I could probably get some seat time in it. I'm also curious to see what Ford will do with the Raptor after this.

Benefits greatly from only having 1 foot of exhaust, snappy, quick revving motor as well. Lol. Even at that, when placed next to a Ferrari or lambo, the sound is lacking for sure. I think there are some fantastic sounding 6 cyl vehicles for sure. Porsche has one of the best sounding motors of all time in the gt3. Gtr exhaust note is nice. That doesn’t in any way mean the raptor sounds good.
The FGT actually sounds better than the newer V8 Ferraris and V8 McLarens. Yes.. sounds wrong, but when you hear them all day at the track you'll know what I mean. Those euro V8's have no soul. And the FGT Sounds suprisingly good.

Lamborghini v10/12's and the V12 Ferraris are unmatched in sound quality

Haha, c'mon man nowhere in ANY of my post had I said that. I stated they didnt put a V8 in the Gen2 and I'm ok with it as long as it performed. I also stated it wouldn't make since to have a V8 option on the gen2 because NO other manufacturer offers multiple engine options on the top model ie z06, gt500, huracan, 570s etc etc

My point was the raptor didnt NEED a V8 to do all the things you and even I want it to do.......its as simple as that. If I were given a option on the gen3 I would WANT a 550hp V8..... but I would not not buy it if ended up being a 550hp powerboost.

That would depend on what said opinions were, now would it?

Nice try Autism! Better luck next time.

what it comes down to though is if the next raptor still doesn’t have a V8 or if they only do a limited series with the GT500 engine that’s crazy priced and the rest are still ecoboost equipped, will we see a lot of people jump ship to the TRX? Only time will tell

In the same way an IFS Bronco will be taking market share from the solid axle Rubicon. Cuz it's new. It won't be some Raptor crippling event but of course some people will switch it up. There really are a lot of people out there who don't care what engine is in it, like the suspensions between Wrangler and Bronco

The one thing that “hurts” the TRX is the notable price increase over the Raptor...

Your argument is that your opinion is better than his is, because he doesn't have enough experience off roading in his raptor, and yet you have your own opinions on road racing while having 0 experience total?

I'm just trying to understand the hypocrisy.

That's my gripe with it. I'd prefer they had spent more effort on the suspension and leave the boost $$$ out of it. Then they really could call it a Raptor killer.

Unfortunately people don't want that stuff.

I got like 3 hours behind the wheel of a little 207hp rear engine trophy truck some years back, that thing would absolutely decimate the Raptor or TRX. Granted it was a race truck, but it's speed was in the suspension.

I can’t say I’m not a huge fan of the Hellcat motor on the TRX. I think it is madness and fantastic all in one. Just imagine 800 RWHP out of that, EASY peasy lemon squeeze!

I do think that suspension wise the TRX will be alright. Bilstein makes some very high quality stuff. Worse case scenario, suspension is EASILY upgradable. Motor on the other hand is not.

My main gripe with this truck (other than price) is the weight. Wish they had managed a lighter version. That said, Hellcat cars where no featherweights and they PERFORMED.

The only thing you should try to understand is how to get his dick out of your mouth....

I kid I kid...

That’s not my argument kiddo. Not even close. I’d recommend you re-read this thread and quote me specifically, so that I can see what statement I made, which triggered you.

Bilstein has been a big old nothing burger in the offroad industry for over a decade.. not to say they won't be a quality shock but they are extremely underwhelming in this platform (too small as well) and then you add 700hp and they become effectively smaller yet. The entire TRX package makes no sense, it's literally catering to the ignorant people who know nothing about offroad, and I guess from Dodges perspective, great!

Should have just made a Hellcat street truck, big power street cruisers are 100% of their fan base. They are just wasting power by throwing big tires on it.

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor R completes inaugural run of Baja 1000

ENSENADA, MEXICO, Nov. 25, 2008 – The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor R race truck, based on the production version of the upcoming 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor, survived the grueling 41st Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, finishing the 631 mile race in 25:28:10

I don't really recall the baja runs back then, but this says 25+ hours for the Baja 1000. Now, the Gen 1 couldn't run in the production class due to the Raptor not out yet so it had to run in the Class 8.

They beefed up the engine and suspension but the frame/trans/axles/brakes being stock.

The Gen 2 was supposedly nearly showroom stock* and ran it in 35 hours. But the course was 854 miles long. 220 more miles than the event the Gen 1 ran.

*Fuel cell, roll cage and harnesses.
My bad, I meant Gen 2. The gen 1 Raptor R was very different

Yeah, the new Ferrari v8 stuff is somewhat muted with turbos. Referring to the 812 superfast with the v12 IF I were shopping in that price range.

yea I don’t think this is at all a game over for the raptor. If anything it’s commendable how far FCA has come to share this market segment now.

I did quote you... And I'm not triggered...?

Either way this is probably going no where.

Does anyone know how long until the rags get their hands on one of these? Hopefully this warrants a showdown on a legit course between this and the Raptor in the hands of a pro.
