Had a few of these built and unfortunately about right. Covid doesn't help either, waited damn near a month for a Cometic head gasket. Other thing I've noticed is during race season guys who compete get dibs. Street car guys aren't their main concern when the big money guys are missing races.

Depends on who you use as well. Prob less common with the big name joints

About a Day and a half for a long block build. (I build my own) hehe..

i definitely wanna build my own one day, always thought if I get another lightning Id do a budget gt500 rods/pistons "build" and try to do it myself or with some help from a friend.

Seems like all shops say 6-8 weeks but they really mean months

As long as you don’t skip steps, pay attention and focus on what you’re doing, building an engine is not really that hard. I’ve built Honda 2.0 4bangers that made well over 500hp, and V8’s that made over a grand. It’s all about paying attention to the smallest details.

Go to any reputable engine builder and (3) months is getting it fast tracked! Especially in the middle of the race season!

Yep. Took about two months at the big shop I went to, and they had hundreds of engines. They were at least pretty accurate with their estimate.

As mentioned above, the only guys who got fast tracked were the promod guys who dropped off engines with a blank check.

And there's no such thing as "off season" when it comes to race shops. During the race season? Gotta have it done right away for the next race. Outside of the race season? Everyone is rebuilding and upgrading. Never a slow season.
