As if 2020 couldn't get worse, the wife went to run the dishwasher last night and of course it wouldn't run. Instead of being able to program the wash cycle and a time showing in the display, all we get is 2 or 3 short lines on the display.

Tried unplugging to reset and nothing. Held the start-cancel button to reset and nothing.

My thoughts are the control board is shot and that looks to be $125. I guess worst case I buy one and make sure it's returnable I'd it doesn't work but I wanted another opinion of that is what is really wrong.

I see there is a way to run a diagnostic test on Frigidaire dishwashers by holding the start-cancel and hi temp wash buttons but that must be for older dishwashers, mine doesn't have a hi temp wash button, rather a button that selects the wash temperature. I have tried holding every button at the same time as start cancel and nothing happens

Did you try calling the manufacturer?

Yup, of course at 8 in the morning they can't even connect me to a person due to high call volumes.

I guess I'll try the nearest service company to try to glean some free advice

I thought my dishwasher had died this past Sunday morning.... 3 hours later after a lot of Google and Youtube, it was back to working. A few pieces of glass were stuck in the drain pump, I guess it runs it as a test before starting any cycle and if it doesn't work then it just does nothing.

Do you still have any of the documentation that came with the washer??? If you pull it out it may be sitting on top or stuck to one of the sides, stuff Im finding online says to look up any error codes there. Tried downloading it a few places with no luck. See the links below for a couple resources, you may need to type your model number back in to get to the specific manual in the first link. While its not the actual manufacturers manual it does have enough info to be dangerous with.

There are some really good on line appliance repair guys - they charge like $15 to get answers. I have used them a few times with great success.

When the transmission on a shitty old thousand dollar winter beater let's go you might not spend $3K to fix it because it's still going to be a thousand dollar beater after the fix.

On the other hand, it's really hard to beat the thrill of watching TV while the new dishwasher runs silently in the background.

Thanks for the advice and links. After Looking uat the links and part numbers I figured out the c control board is likely the issue and found it for $104. Figure I'll give that a shot and if no luck I'll return it and call a repairman

Man, ain't that the truth. I remember when my old dishwasher failed. I installed a new one. Couldn't believe how much quieter it was LOL. Should have gotten rid of my old POS a long time ago LOL....

Good luck with the board. Also...dishwashers need to be torn down and cleaned out annually IMO. When we moved into our new house I assumed it had never been done. Water collected at the bottom and everything smelled terrible. After a Youtube video I tore it down and cleaned it out. Found glass, wood, plastic wrapper and I can't even identify the rest. Like most things...they just need maintenance.

There are ‘how to repair’ vids all over YouTube.
I changed the pump on my DW after watching a vid it was easy.
I also changed the drum on my clothes dryer after watching a video, more involved but the video made it doable.

I was more than excited after fixing and flushing my water heater....hahaha. Now I do it annually due to the amount of calcium that builds up in the bottom. My two heating rods were SHOT and the anode was long gone. I'm gonna replace the drain valve with a more easier to flush one next time.

FlahDah man.
I have one of those appliance insurances. Replaced my dishwasher and garbage disposal with new ones. My microwave went south due to an issue with the door, not covered but I got a good price on a top end MW. It got the wife show of approval.

OK Bozos, stop clowning around.

I have worked in the appliance industry for over 30 years and in my opinion I wouldn't spend much money repairing a Frigidaire branded D/W. You didn't state the age of the piece but honestly I would replace it with a Whirlpool,(good value) Bosch, (quiet no brand on the front panel)or Kitchenaid.(quiet well featured) They are all good and long term you will be glad you did. Just FYI there is no real advantage to a stainless tub except they look better in the store. The higher you get in the product line you will find lower db numbers and some will have higher wash rinse temps. Right now the big issue is availability, many of the plants have be shut down and the supply chain is disrupted.
Frigidaire hangs their hat on their polyester coated finish claiming no fingerprints, avoiding the quality performance issues. Go to any store and wiggle the door an different brands .
A lot of the Frigidaire D/Ws are built in Italy, Whirlpool, Kitchenaid, and Bosch are built in the US, except the Bosch with a laser etched model tag, those are made in Germany.

Bosch has pretty good quality, work at Bosch. Although I make and test injectors the company is pretty sound IMO.
