Anyone have VMP Gen 3 results on pump gas?

Looking for some real world expectations. I have a full bolt on 07 with stock motor. The car has 1 7/8” longtubes, Trinity 2.3, 2.4 upper, stock 08 lower, SCJ Mono TB, JLT 127, ID1050X, BAP, and some cooling mods.

My setup made 690whp on 93 octane at VMP prior to the longtubes. After adding longtubes I lost 2lb of boost and am seeing 15lbs, and I’m also now on 91 octane.

My goals with the car is to have a safe pump gas tune and be able to take the car on the occasional track day (drags or road course).

I’m contemplating getting a Gen 3 as I know the 2.3 Trinity with a 2.4 pulley is making some heat. My thought was I can run a larger upper pulley and make the same power on pump, and then add race gas and drop a pulley size.

Does this swap seem like it’s worth the effort, and does anyone have any real world pump gas experience or numbers with the 2.65 Gen3 (not R) that they could share with me?

Everyone i know with a 3/3r generates just as much heat if not more than my Trinity all running the same boost levels, except they have e85 and I am on pump.
If heat is your concern, I do not think that is gonna fix the problem.
Now granted if you are barely breathing with it running super low boost, sure you may see some iat drop.

I suppose that would make sense, do you think a Gen 4 2.9 Whipple would do any better in that realm? They are basically the same cost In the end.

Is your motor stock or built motor? Any upgrade cam?
He has a built 5.8 as per his signature.

Personally, I would probably go with the Whipple. I would take the clue that SOOOOOO many people have sold off their Gen3 and R's pretty damn quickly after putting them on. Granted these were people wanting to make serious power, but alot of people have been looking to part ways with their VMP stuff and go Whipple. I am sure there is a reason.

If you're looking to swap head units to reduce IAT2, I don't think you're going to make a big dent in what you have. What if any mods do you have to your intercooler system?

I went from a gen 2r to a gen 3. With LTs did 660 w/ gen IIr and 680 with gen III on 91. Average power was actually less with gen III. Had throttle body issues like everyone else. Maybe this has been fixed, I am not sure. Dumped the gen 3 and put on a KB 3.6. Did 740 whp with same set up. This is when I had a 5.4.

I ran a gen 3 (non R) at 722 whp SAE on 93 with a 2.8" pulley through a 6R80.

Pmas
twin 75 throttle body
ported lower intake
Long tubes
ID1000s
Flow mod

Added a can of boostane, 1 additional degree of timing on the 2.8" and it pulled 750 whp SAE

Thats through a stalled auto so a stick should be a little higher than my numbers.

Gen3r 93 built engine lt ported heads and intake 20 psi 2.8 10% lower jdm cams

863 rwhp and 773 tq
You’re making 20psi with a 2.8 and 10% with SS cams and ported heads? Does the 3R really move that much more air than the original Gen3? I’ve got a very similar build and only see 14psi with a Gen3, 3” upper/10% lower.

My gen2r non ported heads ss cams 2.6 upper 10% lower made 19 on the hit and dropped to 16. I was expecting less boost with porting and larger pulley
