55K stockish 03 with just intake/exhaust. There has been a little squealing sound coming from what I assumed was the belt this summer but this noise seems to be newish. I have a pulley/idler/tuner ready to go on but thought I should resolve this first. Not sure how to post this video correctly :(

Pics and or vids didn’t work for me. From what I’ve heard, if you upload to YouTube, simply copy and paste the link here. (So I’ve heard, never done it.)

Sounds like possible idler bearings. Which are known to fail on these cars. I would suggest upgrading all of them before they explode and put a hole through your hood. That’s worst case scenario. But it does happen.

I think you need to take the belt off and inspect all the idlers. As said above, they will explode. It happened to me and shredded my hood blanket. I’d throw in a set of metco idlers for peace of mind, even if your idlers are good.

Thanks guys for giving this a listen.

Well lucky me I have a set of Metco idlers waiting to go in! Was really crossing my fingers it wasn't something more serious...this year can be over already!! Probably wouldn't hurt to throw a new belt on as I'm assuming it's original.

A good belt test is spray said belt with water. If squeal goes away. 99% of the time it’s the belt. And yes checking pulleys by hand with belt off could help with diagnosis. I would just replace them if you have a set ready to go.

I’ve replaced a lot of just the bearings
Over the years.

take something and Mark the outer belt adjuster.

inner and outer are different.

I know I’ve mixed mine up being they look almost identical other than pulley

there are pics posted of the two side by side

Are you talking about the tensioner? What do you mean by the belt adjuster? Are you speaking Canadian?? Haha jk

Sounds like an idler to me. Take the blower belt off and fire it up. Could be on the inside, but less likely.

So I put 2x 100mm and one 90mm on as replacements and can’t get the factory belt back on. Guess I have to wait until I can swap out the blower pulley and get it running again.

I can take the belt off and fire it up though to make sure the nose stopped?

Correct. Can fire it up to verify. Yeah Im pretty sure all stock idlers are about 90mm. Gonna need a different belt
