I posted a bit ago, dealing with the heater core. Got it re cored (vs the after market aluminum options). Its now installed (8 point cage through the dash has not helped the pace of progress). On the back side, but continuing with OCD cleaning "while you are there"...

Man I haven't done crap to my foxbody in a while other then put new door seals. I went to a foxbody meet this past weekend but only like 10 cars showed up so it was a bust.

Pembroke Radiator, they buy the element from a manufacturer up in Maine. Looks OEM, and I have the piece of mind of a quality made brass / copper core, vs the el cheapo aluminum. Word of warning not cheap, could buy 3 aluminum ones for the price ~$175. But by contrast Ive seen NOS for $200 - $350

Who did you use to recore your heater core?

Thanks. I actually have a NOS one (and unfortunately paid NOS price), but I don't want to use it. My original wasn't leaking, but i'd like to recore it and reuse it and squirrel the NOS one away (or sell it)

They are somewhat local to me to. I'll check them out. Thanks

Make sure you use a ford restrictor in the hose to the heater core or make one. This will help extend the life of the heater core.

More engine bay reassembly. Mocked up some of the suspension and brakes to mount the lines and check for clearance. Hydroboost installed, new brake lines, the MM coil-overs are mocked up. I also decided to toss the ATS brembos on just to take a peek. Plugging away. I spend maybe 1 hour each night just reinstalling parts, refurbishing old parts, or figuring out what parts I need to order. The unfortunate side of doing something like this is the nickle and diming on all the little parts. $5 here for fuel line clips, $10 here for a hydroboost fitting, $40 here for a brake line, etc etc.

Wow Mike, you really have that car taken apart. Looking good.

It was apart MUCH more than this pic. I had the entire interior our and bay stripped clean. Now it's actually starting to go back together and looking like a car again. My hope is to have it back on 4 wheels by Xmas....first time in 18 months

Well knowing your sharp eye for detail, I'm sure it'll come out great. ;)

There was a killer radiator shop near me but the owner sadly died a few years ago. Been looking for someone to re-core my brass heater core for my 79.
I don’t mind paying if it’s a quality job.

I have had them do 2 now, and working on getting another done (sourcing another bad core). I want 2 "on the shelf" just in case for what ever reason they go out of business I'll have my inventory.

Thank you for this info!
