My 55" LG just died on me Sunday night, started flickering out of nowhere. Pulled it apart to replace the led strips and cracked the screen . Looking to replace ti with a 55" Sony 900h from Costco. I was originally looking at Hisense/TCL/Vizio but I let spec creep get to me and wanted something that wouldn't be outdated in 2 years.

Got the UN8500 from LG. 4k, 120hz for 700 at Best Buy a month or two ago.

My old 60" Samsung sent a spark out of god knows where from the TV and that was that. So, now I have a 60" TV in the garage.

I have a Vizio that cannot be updated anymore. It literally will not allow me to watch Netflix on it anymore. Will NEVER buy a piece of Vizio shit again

I was going to say something along the lines of:

You're wife is probably looking for something bigger in the bedroom as well... Preferably with no fungus.

As others have said, TV's are dime a dozen anymore and disposable items, as sad as it is. Get one online next weekend. I use Slickdeals.net for searching the best deals with reviews. I've been very happy with my 65" Vizio I got 2 or 3 years ago. The smart function build in suck on all (I have Samsung, LG, and Vizio) and you need a Firestick, Roku, XBOX, or the like to stay up on the latest apps.

Yes they are now disposable. Still sucks I agree. One of our Samsung TV's developed a glitch in the pixels after 8 years. My 4k Samsung monitor developed a glowing halo effect at the bottom left of the screen. I had a wireless charging adaptor for my iPhone right below that spot and I am wondering if that is what caused it. I can live with it because it is not noticeable with darker colors.

However I am done buying Samsung products after the recent issues. Will stick to LG and see how they hold up.

Well I had planned on getting the 55" sony x90ch from Costco. Went with the wife and signed up for a membership went to get the Tv and they didn't have any in store, neither did the rest of the stores in the area so I left empty handed and defeated. Came home and did a little more research and found some deals on the 65" version a little over a month ago for pretty much the same price as the 55". I had to go back to Costco tonight and one of the sales reps said the 65" is set to be marked down to $969 from $1369 on 11/22. Costco has a 30 day price match guarantee so I left with the 65" x90ch. Looks to be a pretty solid tv so far.

We had a Samsung 64" plasma (PN64H5000) in the living room that after 4 years started to randomly turn off and lose picture. Figured out it was the power board with a bad capacitor. Paid $65 on ebay for repair service, shipped the power board and had it back within a week. Been working good as new for over a year and a half now and moved it to the basement.

Wife couldn't survive without a living room tv during the repair so I rushed out and bought a Sony 65" 4K LED (KD-65X750F). I prefer plasmas but the Sony with all the smart features has been nice. I'll never own another dumb tv again.

TCL seems to put out some nice tvs in their mid and high tiers.

Are there certain features or specs to look for regarding smart tvs? Refresh rate is important for fast motion / sports correct? What about processing speeds for the smart features? I have a newer hisense 55 smart tv. My first smart tv. It's nice having all that stuff in one space, but the tv is slow, has issues at times with apps (sometimes have to give and reinstall apps). Picture is fantastic though. TIA

On the budget end, the 6 series TCL 65" TV has done pretty well in most reviews.

TCL 4K Smart LED TV, 65" (65S425)
I'm currently rocking a 58" Samsung plasma in the living room and 40" Samsung in the bedroom. The 40" 720p I got brand new 12 years ago on sale for $899, but after a 4 year extended warranty, it was $1200 out the door. Insane what you can get for $1200 these days!!! The 58" I bought off a friend 4 years ago for $150 because it had purple banding on a white screen. Removed the back, tweaked the power things that corrected the picture and as I was putting the back on again, I fried the main board when an antenna fell over and touched it... $150 later, a pro fixed it and it's been going strong ever since.
