Thanks for the advice. NJ requires a “Permit to Purchase a Handgun.” I had to provide two character references, attest to other questions and wait about 6 weeks. The permission is good for 3 months, and you cannot purchase a handgun within 30 days or a prior handgun purchase. I got three permissions, so I have two more handguns to buy in the coming months.

Your dad's rifle looks to be in nice condition. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure you remember him often while out hunting with his rifle. Nice shot by the way.

Wisconsin Cartridge has some remanufactured (reloaded by automated machines) 9MM FMJ & HP as well as other rounds.
Search Results for “9mm” – Wisconsin Cartridge, LLC

Purchased some new, harder to find .303 rounds from them as well. Good company to deal with.
Thanks for that link. .48 per round for practice 9mm ammo is good in this time of very short supply. I'll forward to going back to the .25 per round (new manufactured) price I was accustomed to before the shortage. I would expect that there are other sources of remanufactured ammo out there.

I actually intended to put that in my post, that he goes with you when you hunt. So true!

Getting back to the ammo situation, a good friend of mine is a Sergeant with our local police department. He's a SWAT officer, weapons instructor and gun enthusiast. I was talking to him this morning and we got to talking about the current ammo shortage. I asked him when he thought we'd see some 9mm ammo relief from the manufacturers. He said "don't expect anything before the latter part of 2021". He is very knowledgeable on this stuff. He further said that Federal, as an example, has a HUGE contract to fill before they get to consumer wholesale orders. Assuming it's true, it's not good news. I hope we'll see relief a lot sooner. At that estimate, I'll be plum out of practice ammo well before I'll be able to buy more.

What is this magical store that stocks dog food AND Walther PPQs in .45?

It’s a Shiptons Big R, kinda like a tractor supply but with a sporting goods section. Here in Montana it takes about 15 minutes to run a background check then you can walk out with it the same trip
