I haven't heard of too many ever breaking. What pulley set up do you run?

+1
I have this bracket and bolts are pretty rusted, where can we get stainless replacement bolts
I am just going to go to the hardware tore and see what they have I suppose.

Edelbrock Steel Belt Tensioner Brace / 2005-2009 Mustang GT & F150
anyone know if the edelbrock one will fit. Half the price and looks better in my opinion.
Not really sure how that works. And it says 05-09 so I'm not sure if it will work on these cars. Doesn't look like it will work the same though. It looks to be a different design.

that Edelbrock one is a really neat design! It "sandwiches" the aluminum arm in between 2 steel plates. Anyone know if the arm length is the same as ours? That would be the only reason that it wouldn't work, that I can think of.

I believe it is the same size as the 03-04's, but the problem with that design is that's not where the tensioner flexes.

The tensioner flexes outward from the center of the assembly where the spring is. The arm itself does not flex. So the Eldelbrock one would do nothing for the tensioner as far as moving outward, it would only strengthen the arm itself.

hmm... didn't know that. I thought it was the cast aluminum arm that would eventually weaken, then crack after repeated flexing. How did you determine that the hub itself was the mode of failure?

Cast doesn't flex, it just cracks. So if it were to crack, it would just fail.

The Metco brace keeps the tensioner from flexing outward towards the front of the car. I have seen it time and time again while reving the car and watching and also when removing or installing the belt. You can really see the flex and where it comes from. It's the center of the tensioner itself. It has nothing to do with the actual arm.

3.5" upper/4lb lower, full Reichard Racing idler set, broke it at the track launching at 4k...dumped the clutch and heard a snap and the battery light came on. Thought it was just the belt until I pulled back into the pits and someone handed me half my tensioner lol. When it broke it hit the crank pulley and destroyed it as well.

Probably a stupid question but when the tensioner “flexes” will it make a knocking sound and cause the belt to slip a bit? I recently replaced my factory tensioner but I keep getting the same issue. Running idlers, 3.1 upper and stock bottom. The belt is hard as heck to put on.
