yeah and I'll put $1000 down that Manchin and Tester both will tell the Dems to take a hike as they know they are dead meat if they go through with this.

And go ahead as I think the Jan 6th stuff will look like a small picnic by comparison as a lot of people are seeing that they truly are on their own as the Dems continue with their defund police rhetoric

I used to believe that private companies (FB, YouTube, etc.) reserved the right to moderate/censor as they deemed fit and based on their policies... then I found out about their protection for serving as a “open forum” and not a publisher. Then I noticed how they moderate, not according to their own policies but instead, according to what suits their agenda. Since they support the left side, their agenda is left leaning. They target right sided figures all while under the protection of not being a publisher, but funny part is, they ultimately do determine what gets to be public and what gets censored.

These companies PUSH Propaganda that is hurting the USA as we know it. Right under our noses. Treasonous in nature.

Wake up and smell what the left is cooking...!

We'll see big tech refuse to allow sites to sell on their web platforms ala Parler and banks will not allow the transactions. Simply put, they will sidestep Congress.

It's annoying how inconsistent social media is regulated. It either needs to be free and open to post (within reason) with little accountability for the proprietor, or they need be held accountable for both their content and moderation.

Right now it's "We are free and open, but moderate and edit the content, but we aren't responsible for it legally"

It's crap

I'm torn on the subject.

On one side I agree the obvious bias on censorship is problematic. I personally think there needs to be a new set of rules for internet companies, but also for their users. Things have gone off the rails and people once again prove they have no boundaries.

On the other hand, why are people compelled to post/ use these platforms? Ie facebook, google, youtube. I haven't had facebook in 5+ years, never had insta or any other social media. Svtperf I guess. I talk to the people I want in person or on the phone. Pretty simple.

I don't walk around talking about my views in public or push my ideas on people who don't want to listen. I haven't had anyone push them on me.

I guess I don't see the fascination with posting about your day, what you purchased, your feelings.

I don't understand why people have social media. Other than advertising a business I just don't see the point.

A little off topic , but I always loved the movie a BROX Tale, lots of learning points. Here is one part I think about all the time. My dad always taught me to not care about what others are doing or thinking.

it is the town square. simple as that. its the way the world is now. same reason people watch the news instead of reading it for the most part.

again, you are wrong here. the rules are biased, applied with bias, and interpreted with bias.
section 230 protections require good faith actors. they do not apply them unilaterally to everyone.

wrong again. in your story HR has issues with anyone making that joke and they each receive equal punishment.

the reality is this would be more like saying "white people can say this but black people can't", "asians can say this but white people can't" etc.

this is classism and if you don't see the problem you're part of it.

this is actual blatant literal persecution.

A web hosting company does not have to host your content. They can terminate any relation/contract with you at any time. Read the ToS and the contract.

Correct, however, they only terminate content they disagree with (conservative leaning content). Their TOS are written that they can do that and appear to be a public forum, which they are not.

Yeah, I always loved the bar scene, where the bikers were being jerks, and the Mafioso walks over and locks the door, with the cryptic words "now youse can't leave"

I think private companies have the right to do business as they please for the most part.

I think the MEGA private companies (Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc) have that right, however I also think due to their massive size and outreach there should be laws controlling what they can and cannot do.

Tell that to the bakers who refused to bake a cake! I think eventually the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Baker. However with conservatives it is always an uphill battle. Lower courts seem to rule against them. There's a double standard and you can't deny it.

Court rules against Oregon bakers who refused to make gay wedding cake

Honestly I think this is exactly what Trump wanted. He has a large very loyal fanbase that is now in a vacuum. He can't contact them through his normal routes.

He did his part to enrage both sides but now only one side gets to tell their story. His followers want to hear his side. So he leaves office (on his own or forced, who knows) starts his own news channel and some form of social media platform. He gets the attention he craves, can say for the most part what he wants and his fans get their fix.

Or maybe he fades into existence. I have no idea at this point but seems plausible.
