hey @Bdubbs I would point you toward Gladiator Garage items, as they are well built and sturdy. On the other side of the coin, if you have space and not trying to maximize every inch, it may be difficult to justify their price.

workbench I made from frigidaire washing machine pedestals. I got them free because the color was discontinued, I later got 10 candy apple red ones I am saving for another project. they hold a lot of stuff.

There is a construction overstock warehouse in CO that is brimmed with cabinets that I bought mine from for my garage.

I know you have a decent budget for this, but if you have a place like that around and you can pick up 2 big cabinets for $100-$150 that are "good enough" you can put more into a second lift or something.

I basically paid about the same for legit cabinets as I would have for the BS Amazon/Overstock basics cabinets.

I DIY-d the work bench. Built it into the structure so she’s a sturdy one. Got the cabinets from our local school district for $10 a pop, size reference next to cobra. Obviously those I don’t have a lead on haha. Bench I had scrap 2x4 and 2x6 laying around so I bought a sheet of plywood on top a sheet of osb for the bottom of the work surface and the pegboard. Pretty cheap

I don't get why people hate assembling IKEA stuff, out of all the cheap stuff you have to put together, theirs is easiest.

I bought an entertainment center from Big Lots like 10 years ago, that was when I was working in maintenance at the time and was used to fabricating. Took me like 3 hours and I had to make revisions to their designs because nothing even lined up.

That was a pain in the dick.

Here’s why. I’m 57 and in a position to afford crap that I don’t have to assemble. I’m not a high roller by any means, but I have had my opportunity to move around and sell and buy basic furniture out of necessity because I was Active Duty for nearly 30 years.

How did you get the checker board floor? Meaning what is it? Material, paint etc?

Looks good!

Thank you. The floor is Race Deck. It was purchased from Garageflooring LLC. The trick is to lay down landscape fabric first. This eliminates the clanking noise on concrete when walking on it. The fabric will not rot or deteriorate. The only issue I ran into was with the lift arms clearing the floor. The RaceDeck is 1/2” thick. I had to use 1/2” solid steel plates under the lift to bring the masts back up to normal floor height.
