I saw where Hank Aaron received the vaccine on the 5th and died today. I've also heard of nursing homes giving the shot and then having increased deaths.

Thoughts?

Is the vaccine listed as his cause of death? Or a contributing factor in his death?

I saw in one european country gave out a warning to people over 80 that are in poor health already. They said they noticed the side effects played a role .

Of those deaths, 13 have been autopsied and revealed that the common side effects associated with the vaccine may have contributed to more severe reactions among frail, elderly people.
Sigurd Hortemo, chief physician at the Norwegian Medicines Agency, said side effects such as fever and nausea “may have contributed to a fatal outcome in some frail patients.”

Aren't people over 80 who are in poor health at greater risk of dying from pretty much everything?

When you get to the point where one good sneeze could do you in there's probably no right or wrong answer. If a vaccine makes you feel less worry then maybe it's worth the risk.

My folks are both 84 and in pretty good shape, though my dad's in chemo for lymphoma for like the 3rd time. They got the Moderna vaccine and my mom felt no soreness and my dad felt just a little when he rubbed his shoulder.

86 yr. old Hank Aaron died Friday morning after suffering from a massive stroke.

I doubt the vaccine he received 17 days prior caused the massive stroke.

Didn't see that but I can see fragile people being pushed over the edge by it.

This reminds me when I use to help the help desk. I would take a customer a new mouse when theirs broke. From time to time I would get a call three weeks later.

"Hey the mouse you brought me broke my computer!"

I think it really depends on the health of the individual in question. So if I or someone I cared for in the upper end age bracket were prepping to take a vaccine I would first spend a bit of time prepping my immune system as best as possible. Vitamin D, zinc, an ionophore like curcumin, and other general stuff like a good multi vitamin, C, and fish oil.

Bottom line is that at this point nobody knows FOR CERTAIN how safe the vaccine is for the elderly. So each person has to make their own decision as to whether or not they wish to get it. Where I would have a problem is if and when it becomes a mandated required for everyone over a certain age, if the long term side affects are not known.

At 80 the average person should pretty much wake up every morning with the single thought... Welp, today could be the day.

This ^^^^^ should be the thought of EVERYONE, regardless of age. I recently had a good friend die at 52, brain cancer. Another friend died very suddenly at 58, aneurysm. Both of these guys were in fabulous shape. Appreciate every day.

"Grandpa, were you alive during COVID?"

"I certainly was! It was very scary."

"Did you know a lot of people who died?"

"Well, no." But 7 million people died!"

"7 million people died in our country alone? Yikes!"

"Well, no. Around the world."

"In a week or two?"

"Well, no. But over the course of 2 1/2 years."

"What was the world population then?"

"7 billion."

"So 0.1% of the world's population died over 2 1/2 years. But I suppose a lot of them were children, so that's sad."

"Well, no. COVID barely affected children. It was almost entirely people in their mid '70s or older who died."

"Mid '70s?! What was life expectancy back then?"

"Um, if I remember correctly it was around, uh, mid-70s."

*awkward silence*
