Tootsie Roll gains 6% as short squeeze action outruns underlying valuation
Jan. 29, 2021 8:15 AM ETTootsie Roll Industries, Inc. (TR)By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor
  • Shares of Tootsie Roll (NYSE:TR) are up 5.72% in premarket action to $41.00 as the volatile trading in the highly-shorted stock continues.
  • Tootsie Roll is up 30.57% YTD and 17.10% over the last 52 weeks as shorts have yet to see the downside destruction they have been betting on for an extended period of time.
  • Seeking Alpha author Patrick Doyle say he likes Tootsie Roll's wonderful business and sustainable dividend, but leaves some pretty clear advice for shareholders.
  • "I think Tootsie Roll is too expensive at $43 per share. For that reason, I’ll be selling my shares. Just because I don’t think there’s value at $43 doesn't mean there’s no value here. I’d be happy to buy back in at $26, and the options market thankfully offers me the opportunity to potentially do just that," he writes.

General Motors a clear pick over Ford at Morgan Stanley
Jan. 29, 2021 8:55 AM ETGeneral Motors Company (GM)By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor18 Comments
  • Morgan Stanley prefers General Motors (NYSE:GM) to Ford (NYSE:F) even as it says the market may be ascribing zero or even negative value for ICE-derived revenues at the two Detroit automakers, while also undervaluing the electric vehicle opportunity.
  • The firm keeps an Overweight rating on GM, while dropping Ford to an Underweight rating from Equal Weight with its sum-of-the-parts value far less.
  • Analyst Adam Jonas explains in detail: "Our revised DCF and SOTP composition through the 2030 horizon factors in greater caution on our ICE forecasts for both companies, while increasing the value of the EV and AV-related businesses for each. For GM, the offset of the negative ICE adjustments and positive EV adjustments drives an increase in our price target to $80, suggesting over 50% upside. For Ford, our adjustments are substantially offsetting. This, combined with the recent run-up in the stock (which has kept pace with GM YTD) offers more than 20% downside to our price target."
  • Ford is down 1.68% in premarket action. GM is up 0.20% premarket to cap off a very strong week off more electrification buzz.

Crazy stuff, hats off to the guys making money off all the crazy moves.

Stock market plunge accelerates with more tech selling

Jan. 29, 2021 1:12 PM ETS&P 500 Index (SP500)By: Kim Khan, SA News Editor3 Comments
  • The major averages are tumbling to their lows of the day, with the S&P 500 (SP500) -2.1%, Nasdaq (COMP) -2.3% and Dow (DJI) -2.1% are all down more than 2%.
  • The selling pressure is coming down hard on the Big 6 megacaps, with Apple and Tesla off more than 4%.
  • The squeeze stocks are back rallying and there is chatter (although no evidence) that the resumption of the upward trajectory in those names is adding more caution to the broader market and that some institutions are selling positions to cover shorts.
  • GameStop is up another 70% and the Reddit action is spread to other shorted consumer stocks.
  • The Treasury selloff has stalled as equity selling gained steam. The 10-year yield is at 1.07%, down from 1.09% earlier.
  • All 11 S&P sectors are down, with Energy (NYSEARCA:XLE), which usually sees outsize moves, the biggest decliner, followed by Info Tech (NYSEARCA:XLK), where semi equipment stocks are also a drag.
  • Utilities (NYSEARCA:XLU) and Real Estate (NYSEARCA:XLRE) are down the least.
  • Healthcare (NYSEARCA:XLV) stocks are volatile with J&J down on its vaccine efficacy data, but rivals are popping higher.

What service did you use to buy it?

honesrly ? RH because Kraken wouldn’t verify shit and coin base doesn’t support it

and I didn’t want to miss out on getting in... I’m sure it’ll keep dropping ... but I got in while it was still “ cheap “ at 4 cents.

I wish I smart enough to get in at half a cent
