I have a 2010 gt500 with the following mods: Trinity, VMP 67tb, boosters, 13 injectors, 2.4 pulley, 123 CAI, 1 piece DS, VMP 100 octane boostane tune, VMP HEI. My car dyno'd 693hp/671tq on stock bottom end.

I want to get in the low to mid 700s with running less boost and timing. I dont want to spend the money porting for little return. The Trinity is still commanding some money. I have been contemplating a Gen3 on sale for $2499 from weirracing, or a Gen3R when they come back on sale. I know the Gen3s isnt made anymore. Also thinking about a Whipple Gen 5 3.0.

I like the tvs for the low end torque. Is the Gen3r worth the extra money? Opinions on the Whipple?

Thanks.

Gen3R TVS, awesome TQ, great topend power and it's a easy swap going from the Trinity TVS to the Gen3R. You'll easy pick up 50 to to 70whp.

Maybe stick with VMP since you already have a VMP TB? I would add a BAP and 1050s too while you are at it.

That said, you are at the upper end of stock internals already IMO.

Having been through this, I would not waste the money. You aren't going to notice 25hp and it gets expensive to keep swapping parts around. Gen3r would be overkill on a stock block, IMO. I only recently replaced my TVS because I had to rebuild it anyways, and now have a Whipple 2.9. I can't stay what power gains if any are going to be had, but I should know on Monday after I put it on the dyno and can give you a good comparison of the two.

If you don't have longtubes already, I would do those and you should pick up an easy 20+whp.

I am interested in hearing your results. I may be moving from my Trinity to a 2.9 or 3.0

If gain on the top end is worth the loss in the mid-range, get the bigger blower. What's going to happen with a bigger blower, on your combination, is you'll end up with higher boost at peak, but a loss of boost in the mid-range. I think you need more injector too, if you're going for more power.

I have a BAP. My thought was selling the trinity for 1000-1200 to help offset the Gen3r. I have thought about longtubes also but that is probably 2k in the end between labor and cost of parts.

Back from dyno. Same tuner dyno, etc.

679/651 TVS 2.4 Upper
765/702 Whipple 2.9/2.875 Upper

My rear tires are bald so it spun good and torque was off, it should be near 750 tq. Car feels great but could have gotten similar numbers or same with the trinity and 10% lower I think.

Gen2R would be a great idea if you can find one. Happy with the Whipple as I like the look and car fees great!

Is this on E85?
The trinity will certainly do those numbers, but you are gonna be spinning it to 21-22PSI to do it and is a little bit of a stretch on pumpgas. If E85 not too much of a problem getting there with a 10%

Nope, 91. The Whipple numbers I added a half can of VP Octanium on top to keep things happier. I have a race gas map that should crack 800 as well for track days.

Those are pretty healthy numbers. How do you like the feel of the Whipple compared to the TVS?

I’m happy with it! Timing was kept low due to being on stock rods as well. I have no doubt if we went aggressive it would make 800 on pump. Rob at Palm Beach Dyno did a great job with the car and tuning with him has been a great experience.

Honesty if my TVS didn’t go out on me I would have been happy with it and adding a 10% lower to crack 700. The Whipple does feel a bit more linear and when I overlay the graphs, the Gen4 Whipple torque numbers hit just as hard but it pulls harder up top (opinion). Overall I am happy with it, it was a bit more involved on install. TVS is so simple to swap that a Gen2R is probably the perfect compromise.

what was more involved with the Whipple if I may ask?
Since I am going e85 now and another built motor and cams, I am thinking of stepping up to a 2.9 or 3.0

Fitment is really tight, have to create gasket, fuel rails are super tight on driver side you have to shimmy a small wrench underneath to get the bolt tightened. Clearance from blower to rear firewall is super tight, etc. It's not difficult, just more time consuming and if I want to swap rails on the car to run E85 I need to pull the entire blower, reseal it, etc. Again, just extra steps.

Whipple has stopped making the Gen4 2.9 so you will be stuck looking into the 3.0, which seems better anyways due to the elbow being removable. If it was in the budget I would have gone 3.0 as well just for the extra headroom.
